Matthew 22:19-21
Show Me the tax money.” So they brought Him a denarius. And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
INSIGHT
-The pharisees wanted to trap Jesus in matters of taxation & He responded as above. Paul also wrote that we should give taxes to the authorities, fear & honor to God (Rom 13:7).
-Revenues were received by king Solomon (wisest king) from all over the world/ Jacob was prosperous in revenue evidenced by his large numbers of flock/ Wisdom is better than gold & it’s revenue better than silver & those who love God will inherit wealth/ Egypt thrived from production of grain watered by river Niles & provided a marketplace for other nations/ We should give part of our revenue to God & taxes to the authorities
PRAYER
As we continue to receive from You; Father, bestore in us the heart to give. May we always remember to fear You; so that we may share in Your wisdom. All praise & thanksgiving belong to You Lord, now & forever. Amen
