THEME: HUMILTY BEFORE GOD

Philippians 2:5-8 NKJV

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”

INSIGHT

Jesus did not cling to His equality with God as His beloved Son but took the nature of a servant. Jesus humbled Himself by voluntarily setting aside His divine glory to take the form of a servant, being born in human likeness. He was fully obedient to the Father’s will, choosing to die for humanity’s redemption. He submitted to the most humiliating and painful form of death known in that time. His ultimate act of humility was total obedience to God, resulting in His death on a cross, due to love resulting to the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus calls us to emulate His example of humility and love by loving one another and thereby becoming His disciples (John 13:34-35).

SUMMARY

Humility in Hebrew is written as anavah and in Greek tapeinophrosunē which means having meekness, lowly state, fear of the Lord, obedience to God and love for God and one another. Those who are poor in spirit are blessed for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:3). The kingdom of heaven belongs to little children and should not be hindered from following Christ (Matthew 19:14).  Like little children who are meek, submissive, and innocent at heart Jesus calls us to humble ourselves before Him. God resists those who are proud and gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6). Moses was the meekest man on earth, he married an Ethipian woman and was critised by Aaron and Mirian, but remained faithful to God and His calling (Numbers 12:1-3). As a people, God calls us to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, then He will hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14). Jesus calls us to learn from His example of humility by carrying each other’s burdens, and in this way we fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2). When we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, He will exalt us in due time (1 Peter 5:6).

PRAYER

This is the day that You have made Lord we rejoice and are glad in it. We enter into Your gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. We give thanks to You and bless Your holy name, for You Lord You are Good, Your mercy is everlasting and Your truth endures to all generations. You must increase Lord in our lives, families, communities, churches and nation and we must decrease. Lord Jesus we humble ourselves before You, submit ourselves in prayer, seeking Your face and turn from our wicked ways, may You hear us from heaven, forgive us our sins and heal our land. May You heal our nation from every sin and iniquity that we have committed knowingly and unknowingly, and wash us with our precious blood. We pray for comfort upon those who have lost their loved ones in the flood that You may grant them Your peace that surpasses all human understanding. May You restore all those who have lost property and teach us to fear You Lord and always obey Your will. According to Micah 6:8, Lord You have called us to to justly, love mercy and to walk humbly with You, may You strengthen us and help us. May You teach  us dear Lord according to Colossians 3:12-14, to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, and put on love, which is the bond of perfection. Lord You have called us to humble ourselves before You and You will lift us as the appointed time, to fear You and You shall release Your honor and life upon us. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now, and forever more. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us, all the days of our lives, and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord, forever and ever. Amen

Blessed Weekend
