THEME: OBEDIENCE TO GOD

Jonah 1:1-3 NKJV

“Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.”

INSIGHT

–Jonah was instructed to go to Niveveh and preach the word of God for the city was great and their sin abominable before the Lord. Jonah stepped out of God’s mandate and went to Tarshish and there was a great tempest at sea. Jonah drew away from the manifold presence of God by his dissobedience but later heeded to God’s voice. God is calling us to hear His voice and obey His will completely that we may remain in His presence and accomplish His purposes.

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus You are Jehovah Jireh, Jevohah Nissi, Jehovah Shalom, we worship You and enthrone You. You are the Most High God, we worship You and bless Your holy name. We inclined our hearts to You to perform Your statutes forever, to the very end, may You grant us the grace to fully obey and do according to Your will. Lord You have remind us that the world is passing away and the lust of it, but those who do Your will Lord abide forever, may You help and uphold us with Your righteous right hand. May You forgive us all our sins and iniquities and heal our land. May You heal the hearts of those who have lost their loves one and restore them. May You protect us and our children and restore sanity in our communities and nation. May You prosper our nation and deliver us from poor governance, leadership and neo-colonialism. We worship You dear Lord Jesus and give You praise, and it is in Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen
