Joshua‬ ‭2:1-4‬ ‭

“Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” So they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there. And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.” So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country.” Then the woman took the two men and hid them. So she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.”

INSIGHT
-Joshua trusted the promises of God to give them the promised land. Jericho was often referred to as the “City of Palms” for its abundance of palm trees (Deuteronomy 34:3; Judges 1:16; 2 Chronicles 28:15). In dramatic contrast to its desert surroundings, Jericho thrived as a fertile, spring-fed oasis. Joshua applied wisdom and sent men secretly to spy on the land of Jericho, given that previously spies had gone out publicly turned out badly for Israel and majority of the spies were discouraged (Numbers 13:28). Rahab having knowledge that God had given the Israelites their land, displayed faith by hiding the men on the roof of her house oblivious of the threat they might have posed on her. She also acted bold by defying the order of the king of Jericho and lied that the men had escaped from the city. She participated in God’s plan of securing the land of Jericho as an inheritance to the Israelites, and thus became a destiny re-aligner. Similarly, the two spies re-aligned her destiny and saved her and her family from destruction of the city (Joshua 6:23). As Ecclesiastes 4:9, says that two are better than one, there was mutual benefit from both Rahab and the two spies, which secured an entire generation and brought glory to God.

PRAYER
Father You are glorious and clothed with power and strength. Lord You say in Your word that a three code strand cannot be easily broken. We trust in You dear Jesus. May You cement our relationships and marriages with Your love so that we may be effective in all areas of our lives. May You realign our destinies and make us fruitful in every way. May Your blessings and favor surround us, that we may occupy until You come. May You cover us with Your blood and deliver us from the snares of the evil one. Our Father who art in heaven; hallowed be Your name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory; forever and ever. Amen
