THEME: GREAT EARTHQUAKE
Revelation 6:12-13 NKJV
“I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.”
INSIGHT
–Biblically, celestial disturbances are often connected with the coming of the Messiah. Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Joel, Zephaniah and Jesus Himself all described such events. Though that time was a day of wrath to the uttermost upon the Jewish people, and it was the Lamb’s day of wrath, taking vengeance on them for their unbelief and rejection of him as the Messiah; yet they had no sense of the Lamb, nor any apprehension of his wrath at that time, nor have they now, but imputed their calamity to their divisions and quarrels among themselves. The earthquake they suppose is meant the shaking of both church and state by the man of sin; who shook the doctrines, ordinances, and discipline of the church, and threw all into confusion, and introduced a new face of things; and also shook the kingdoms of the earth, and the thrones and crowns of princes: by the “sun” becoming “black”, they think is meant the sun of righteousness, Jesus Christ, who was obscured in the doctrines concerning him, as the one and only Mediator, and justification by his righteousness, and pardon through his blood.
PRAYER
We give thanks to You Lord, for You are good and Your mercy endures forever. We give thanks to You God of gods for Your mercy endures forever. We give thanks to You Lord of lords for Your mercy endures forever. To You who alone does great wonders, for Your mercy endures forever. To You who by wisdom made the heavens, for Your mercy endures forever. To You who laid out the earth above the waters, for Your mercy endures forever. To You who made great lights, for Your mercy endures forever. The sun to rule by day, for Your mercy endures forever. The moon and stars to rule by night, for Your mercy endures forever. May You forgive us all our sins and iniquities and cleanse us with Your precious blood. May You release Your gift of salvation unto us and our generations for the glory and honor of Your name. May You save all those who are lost and restore them into Your kingdom. We pray this believing and trusting in Jesus mighty name. Amen
