Psalms 91:1-7 NKJV

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.”

And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.”

INSIGHT

-God’s miraculous protection and guidance of the Israelites through the wilderness, using a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night to lead them. The fire to offer light, heat, and capacity to destroy and refine. The cloud to offer guidance, covering, supply of rain and separation of realms. This visual representation of God’s presence served as a constant reminder of His protection and direction, allowing them to travel day or night. The Holy Spirit offers protection by the hedge of fire. He continuously offers guidance and protection, both in the physical journey and in the spiritual life of believers.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 NKJV

But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.”

INSIGHT

God is faithful and His faithfulness is the foundation of our Christian hope. By His faithfulness God enables believers to have confidence in uncertain and hostile environments. God protects us from the evil one, for he who is born of God does not sin and keeps himself (1 John 5:18). Though believers are in spiritual warfare, God is our defender (Ephesians 6:10–18). By God’s faithfulness He protects, guides, and finishes the work He began in us (Philippians 1:6).

PRAYER

Hebrews 13:6 NKJV

So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

INSIGHT

Our faith in God enables us to speak with courage, confidence, and without hesitation, knowing that God who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). SUMMARY

God is our Protector, and His Word offers us comfort, hope, and strength in times of need. When we face trials, we can turn to God, who is faithful, to establish us and guard us from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 3:3). God is our refuge and fortress, He delivers us from the snare of the fowler and perilous pestilence. He also covers us with His feathers, and under His wings we take refuge, and His truth shall always be our shield and buckler (Psalms 91:1-7). When we sought the Lord, He hears us and delivers us from all our fears (Psalms 34:1-5). As the Lord went before the Israelites by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so He also protects us and guides our paths (Exodus 13:21-22). Through God’s word, we are reminded of His promises of protection, His care upon us, and His power over evil. God provides us with peace and assurance that comes from trusting in Him and His word.
