THEME: TRUST IN GOD

Matthew‬ ‭8‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.”

INSIGHT

–Jesus encountered a Centurion in Capernaum whose servant was sick lying paralized in bed. The Centurion demostrated great faith and trust in God for he said to Jesus, “just say a word and my soul shall be healed” and the servant was healed from that very hour.

SUMMARY

Trust in Hebrew is written as Yachal and Pisteuo in Greek that means waiting or holding fast with expectation, knowing with certainty that help will come. Also believing and having faith and confidence in God. Trust in God is a demostration of faith leading to commiting full reliance and confidence in God. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬). ‬‬The one who trusts in the LORD is blessed, he who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods (Psalms 40:4). The Lord says that cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the LORD, but blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is in Him (Jeremiah 17:5-8). The Lord calls us to trust in Him with all our hearts and not to lean on our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). Jesus met with the Samaritan woman at the well and told her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw” (John 4:13-15).

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus You are our only God and none can be likened to You. You are the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and Last. We trust in You alone dear Lord Jesus, some trust in horses and others in chariots but we believe in You alone. Dear Lord Jesus only say a word and our soul shall be healed. Heal our hearts dear Lord Jesus and deliver from all evil for we put all our hope and trust in You. May You heal all those who are sick and suffering from their sick beds and restore them, for You are near the brokenhearted and You save those who are crushed in spirit. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forevermore. Amen
