THEME: SONS OF GOD

Luke 6:35-36 NKJV

“But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.”

INSIGHT

–It is unusual to lend to anyone expecting no refund or to love those who have no concern for you, but Jesus calls us to love unconditionally. 1 Corinthians 13:5 reminds us that love does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered and it keeps no record of wrongs. When we express our love for the unlovable and expect nothing in return for whichever kind gesture, then we become sons of the Most High God, emulating Christ who lay down His life for us.

PRAYER

We praise You Oh Lord God Almighty for Your greatness, power, glory, majesty, and splendor are Yours, and everything in the heavens and on earth. Yours Oh Lord is the kingdom and You are exalted as head over-all. Save us O Lord God Almighty, by Your name and vindicate us by Your strength. Hear our prayers, O God and give ear to the words of our mouth. May You teach us to love You with all our hearts, might, strength and our neighbors as ourselves. May You anoint us afresh so that we may love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who spitefully use us and persecute us, and lend without expecting a return. Amen
