THEME: OIL OF THE SPIRIT
Matthew 25:1-13 NKJV
“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”
INSIGHT
-The parable of the ten virgins clearly demonstrates the importance of continually burning the oil of the Holy Spirit. All the virgins had lamps so they knew Christ our Savior, even though five were foolish and five were wise. In their foolishness they lacked discernment, and never considered the importance of carrying extra oil lest the Messiah comes when they least expect it, like a thief (Revelation 16:15). They were lazy in their walk with Christ and their lamps grew dim by the day. Five were wise and they carried extra oil, the oil of the Spirit, in readiness to receive the Messiah. The Bible reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to pray always. Prayer can be continuous if we engage the Holy Spirit, and He intercedes for us with groanings that cannot be uttered in both our conscious and subconscious minds. We are called to read the word, pray continuously, fellowship with one another often as we cultivate our relationship with the Holy Spirit, by His grace.
PRAYER
I will lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from. My help comes from You Lord, Who made the heaven and the earth. You will not allow my foot to be moved. You who keeps me will not slumber. My help and safety comes from You Lord my God. Help us and our families, and keep us safe. Help our nation and our leaders dear Jesus, that they may agree and choose peace. We refuse political instability and blood shed in our nation, may You help us dear Master. May You revive our economy and cause us to prosper. Thank You for redeeming us with Your blood even when we were lost and without Your light of salvation. We are the salt and the light of the world, thank You for choosing us and using us for the glory of Your name. We come to Your throne of mercy and grace that we may obtain Your grace during our time of need, may You help us and wash us with Your precious blood. May You help us to draw near to You Holy Spirit as You are with us, and teach us to always have communion with You. Teach us to pray always, to read and understand Your word. May You help to be ready always with our loved us and all Your people, for Your second coming. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forever more. Amen
