Philippians 3:13-14 NIV

 “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

INSIGHT

–Apostle Paul addresses the Philippians regarding pressing on their future ambitions and not on the present. The analogy of an athlete focuses on the finish line, not dwelling on previous laps. It’s about continuous progress, letting go of distractions, and pressing towards a higher, eternal calling rather than resting on past achievements or being weighed down by regrets. God calls us to focus on spiritual growth by forgetting past setbacks and successes but to look ahead and straining forward with calculated effort toward the ultimate heavenly prize.

PRAYER

We praise You Lord our God and honor You. We sing praises to You dear Lord Jesus while we have our being. We put all our trust in You and not in princes, horses or chariots. We look to You Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. If Your presence does not go with us we shall not go. This year Abba Father we know that You are doing a new thing in our lives. May You provide new opportunities and open doors for us to prosper. May You grant us, our brothers and sisters, and everyone the gift of salvation dear Jesus for the glory and honor of Your name. Amen
