THEME: GOODNESS OF GOD

Psalms 65:11 NKJV

You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance.”

INSIGHT

As we come to the close of the year, let us thank and exalt the Lord for He has indeed crowned the year with His goodness. Let each one of us consider the crown of kindness that He has shown us keeping us alive and strong. Let us count our blessings and name them one by one, for the Lord is good and His mercies endures forever. Even in difficult seasons, let us always remember that His goodness frames the story for the year, that outweighing difficulties, losses, struggles, and uncertainties. When we reflect on the goodness of the Lord, we realize that He has indeed blessed us with every spiritual blessing, and we are called to have firm faith in Him knowing that His paths still drip with abundance this year and the next.

SUMMARY

The word good in Hebrew is written as tob and agathos in Greek which means excellent, wholesome, pleasant, agreeable, useful, right or desirable. Goodness is the nature of God. Since God is good and kind, He requires that we exhibit His character of goodness to all men. Those who do not follow in God’s goodness are likely to be cut off (Romans 11:22). It is by God’s mercy and grace that we are light and live in the light for we were once darkness. God has released His goodness, righteousness and truth, that we remain in Him and expose unfruitful works of darkness (Ephesians 5:8-11). God is merciful, gracious, longsuffering and abounding in goodness and truth (Exodus 34:6), and requires us to return to Him. We are called to give thanks to God in all situations for His goodness endures forever and He satisfies and fills our hungry soul with His goodness (Psalms 107:8-9).

PRAYER

We thank You dear Lord Jesus for You have crowned this year with Your goodness and Your paths drip with abundance. How great are You in all the heavens and the earth. We count our blessings and name them one by one. We thank You for the gift of life and everything that You have done for us and unto us. May You fill us afresh and renew our strength precious Holy Spirit. May Your name be known and exalted in our homes, families, churches and nations, as You release Your salvation grace during this season that we love one another, be reconciled with each other and share in Your peace. Dear Lord Jesus, may You do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask of or think of according to the power that is at work in us. Dear Lord, we trust in You and exalt You. We believe that You are able to do more than we can think of or imagine this remaining part and the next year. May You open the gates of next year unto us that we will be exceedingly fruitful according to Your mercy, grace and sure promises. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in Your house forever. May You bless us and keep us loving Father, may You shine Your face upon us and be gracious to us. May You lift up Your countenance towards us and give us peace. Amen
