THEME: LOOK TO JESUS
Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
INSIGHT
–The previous chapter reveals the great cloud of witnesses who who ran their races through faith and witness our affairs like spectators in a stadium. Their lives are testaments that it is possible to trust God both in favourable and adverse times. When we lay aside every sin and iniquity that easily entangle us, and focus on Jesus and His promises, then we will always win the race.
SUMMARY
Looking to Jesus first of all means trusting in God’s promises that every word that goes out of His mouth in righteousness shall not return void (Isaiah 45:22-23). Secondly, looking to Jesus means trusting in God alone and not looking to people, challenges, past failures, money, distractions and our own strength. Those who put their trust in man are cursed and will inhabit the parched and dry places in the desert. On the contrary, those who put their hope and trust in God are blessed. They will be like trees planted in water, and will not not cease from yielding fruit (Jeremiah 17:5-8). Thirdly, looking to Jesus means to rely on God for strength and protection, for He upholds us with His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). Fourthly, looking to Jesus means to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things He shall add unto us (Matthew 6:33). Lastly, looking to Jesus means relying on God for help as a witness having faith in Him and imitating Him so as to finish our course.
PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus we look to You with our hearts for You are our only God. You are our Kings of kings and Lord of lords. You are our God Almighty. We focus on You for strength, protection, peace, provision and direction. We focus on You for a fresh infilling and renewal of our strength. May You guide us in the way we should go and deliver us from all evil. In every sphere of our lives may You answer, be it physical, spiritual, relational, psychological, economic and financial. May Your name be known and exalted in our homes, families, churches and nations, as You release Your salvation grace. Thank You for everything that You have done unto us and continue to do for us. Dear Lord Jesus, may You do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask of or think of according to the power that is at work in us. Dear Lord, we trust in You and exalt You. We believe that You are able to do more than we can think of or imagine. We believe that we shall be exceedingly fruitful according to Your mercy, grace and sure promises. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in Your house forever. May You bless us and keep us loving Father, may You shine Your face upon us and be gracious to us. May You lift up Your countenance towards us and give us peace. Amen
Blessed Weekend
