THEME: THIRSTY FOR GOD
John 4:24 NKJV
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
INSIGHT
–We thirst for God through worship and offering praises to Him. To worship God in spirit and in truth requires total submission to God and to His power and authority. Psalm 96:9 reminds us of the need to worship God in the beauty of His holiness.
SUMMARY
It is the nature of human to desire diverse needs and wants depending on the orientation, environment, culture, exposure, income level, personal preferences and stage of life. The desire for God should be pivotal in our lives disregarding social status, education level, worldly distractions, temporary pleasures, and material pursuits that often draw us away from our true purpose. The Psalmist in Psalms 42:1-2 uses an analogy to disclose his deep desire for God stating that, as the deer pants for the water brooks, so His soul pants for God. Again, in Psalms 84:1-4 the Psalmist uses imagery to show the longing of his soul like a sparrow that found a home and a swallow that finds a nest for herself where she may lay her young at the altar of God’s temple. Secondly, we thirst in the Lord through continued prayer without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). When we call upon the Lord, He hears and when we seek God, we find Him, when we search for Him with all our hearts. Thirdly, when we trust in God, it is synonymous to thirsting for Him (Psalms 34:8-9). Fourthly, our thirst for God is also pegged upon the desire for God’s Word who became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory (John 1:1-14).
PRAYER
You are worthy O Lord our God, to receive glory, honor and power, for You created all things and by Your will they exist and were created. We draw near to You we all our hearts and seek You when we can find You. May You sanctify us fully body, soul and spirit and guide us in Your purposes our loving Savior. May You cover us with Your precious blood and hedge of fire, and protect us from all evil. We declare that no weapon fashioned against us shall prosper and every tongues that is raised against us in judgement we shall condemn in Jesus mighty name. May You Abba Father supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Our Father who art in heaven; hallowed be Your name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory; forever and ever. Amen
Blessed Weekend
