1 Kings 10:14-15 The weight of gold that came to Solomon yearly was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold, besides that from the traveling merchants, from the income of traders, from all the kings of Arabia, and from the governors of the country.

INSIGHT -In Hebrew, revenue is written as tebuah & it means produce, yield, fruit, gain, increase, result, proceeds, income -King Solomon received an annual income in gold of 666 talents worth about £7,780,000. Spice merchants, other traders, King’s of Arabia & governors of the country also brought in wealth to his treasury enabling the fortication of the city.

PRAYER Thank You Lord Jesus for the produce of our land, income & provision that we continue to receive. May You guide us going forth in faith to always receive from You & guide us on how to use it. Be with all those who are unemployed to be able to work as You have directed us. Guide our president & other leaders in government to be able to use the country’s resources with wisdom. All glory & praise belong to You. Amen

Genesis 31:17-18 Then Jacob rose and set his sons and his wives on camels. And he carried away all his livestock and all his possessions which he had gained, his acquired livestock which he had gained in Padan Aram, to go to his father Isaac in the land of Canaan.

INSIGHT -Jacob labored for Laban many years where he became be came prosperous in family & livestock, despite the oppression of his father in law. -Using the poplar tree (styrax officinalis) & chestnut tree (platanus orientalis), Jacob was able to produce speckled livestock & strong by them looking at the peeled white rods & drinking from the same troughs.

Proverbs 8:19-21 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, And my revenue than choice silver. I traverse the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice, That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, That I may fill their treasuries.

INSIGHT -King Solomon talks about wisdom pointing to Christ in whom are all treasures of knowledge & wisdom, which we access when we abide in Him. Wisdom promises, believers that their goods are laid up, not for days & years, but for eternity. Her fruit therefore is better than gold & her revenues than choice silver. If we believe in Him, we access eternal life now traversing into the future. By seeking Him first & His righteousness, He is faithful to give us all things for He knows all our needs (Mat 6:32-33).

PRAYER Lord our Father, we ask for the gift of wisdom in our hearts. May we believe in Your word & do as it instructs so that we may access all things. Amen

Isaiah 23:3 And on great waters the grain of Shihor, The harvest of the River, is her revenue; And she is a marketplace for the nations.

INSIGHT -The great waters of river Nile that produce grain in Egypt, is her revenue. By this; other nations like Tyre come here to trade various commodities like wine & oil in exchange for grain (refer to the time of Joseph when there was drought (Gen 41:56-57) & (1 Chron 13:5)).

PRAYER Thank you Father for the produce in our land. Sustain us with the dew of morning & rain by night so that we may never lack & always be in abundance. Enhance peaceful trade relations between us & other nations in order that we may grow in harmony with each other. Amen

Matthew 22:19-21 Show Me the tax money.” So they brought Him a denarius. And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

INSIGHT -The pharisees wanted to trap Jesus in matters of taxation & He responded as above. Paul also wrote that we should give taxes to the authorities, fear & honor to God (Rom 13:7).
-Revenues were received by king Solomon (wisest king) from all over the world/ Jacob was prosperous in revenue evidenced by his large numbers of flock/ Wisdom is better than gold & it’s revenue better than silver & those who love God will inherit wealth/ Egypt thrived from production of grain watered by river Niles & provided a marketplace for other nations/ We should give part of our revenue to God & taxes to the authorities
