THEME: VALUE OF THANKGIVING

1 Corinthians 11:23-25 NKJV

“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

INSIGHT

–Jesus demostrated the value of giving thanks through the miracle of the holy communion. The bread is changed to the body of Christ and the wine to become the blood of Jesus, and Jesus performs healing miracles, deliverance and other breakthroughs.

SUMMARY

The value of giving thanks lies in its power to transform individuals and communities by fostering gratitude, improving mental and physical health, strengthening relationships, and providing spiritual fulfillment. It encourages a shift in focus from what is lacking to what is available, leading to increased happiness, resilience, and a deeper sense of connection to others and a higher power. Worship should be heartfelt, not formal — full of joy because of who God is and what He has done. Thanksgiving is the gateway to God’s presence (see also Psalm 100:4). It reminds believers that worship is not about demands but gratitude. Joyful worship honors God’s goodness and invites His presence among His people. God invites us to give thanks in everything, for this is His will in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).  God is Sovereign, He is the Rock of our salvation, He requires that we come before His presence with thanksgiving and shout joyfully to Him with psalms (Psalms 95:1-6). As believers, we have received Christ Jesus so we are called to walk in Him and established in faith  (Colossians 2:6-7). The parable of the ten leapers remind us of the need and importance of thanksgiving. One the Samaritan came to Jesus in thanksgiving while the other nine went away after receiving their healing. The Samaritan was made whole through his faith in Jesus (Luke 17:15-19).

PRAYER

Lord You are Good and Your mercies ensures forever. Lord You are Faithful and Your faithfulness is indispensible. Lord You are Sovereign and Your sovereinity is enduring. We give You thanks and praise for You deserve all the glory, power, honor, praise and magnification. None is like You Lord in all the heavens and the earth. Thank You for the everything that You have done unto us and continue to do for us. Dear Lord Jesus, may You do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask of or think of according to the power that is at work in us. Lord, we trust in You and exalt You. We believe that You are able to do more than we can think of or imagine. We believe that we shall be extremely fruitful since we abide in You and You in us. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in Your house forever. May You bless us and keep us loving Father, may You shine Your face upon us and be gracious to us. May You lift up Your countenance towards us and give us peace. Amen
