THEME: FALSE PROPHETS

Acts 16:16-19 NKJV

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities.”

INSIGHT

The tale of Paul and Silas outlines the power of God in dis-arming the power of evil forces given to divination. The slave girl who was making a profit for her masters, by the scorpion spirit or the spirit of divination. Paul annoyed by her calling them out as servants of the Most High God, commanded the evil spirit to come out of the girl and she was delivered.

SUMMARY

Biblically, a prophet is an individual who would proclaim the true word of the Lord. Sometimes they would speak about a future event and other times regarding a current matter. By definition then, a false prophet is one who presents themselves as speaking on behalf of the Lord, however instead of speaking truth, they speak lies. Jeremiah 14:14 exposes false prophets when the Lord says, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.” Matthew 24:23-24, reveals how false prophets and false christs rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive even the elect. 1 John 4:1-4 tells us to test every spirit, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. The spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, but every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God but the Antichrist. 2 Timothy 4:3-5 reveals of such a time as this when a generation will not endure sound doctrine but they will do according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. In Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭15‬ ‭we are cautioned to beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves, and we shall know them by their fruits. We need to pray for a fresh anointing by the Holy Spirit who gives us the gift of discernment, teaches us all truth, delivers us from every evil and walks in step with us, since the days are evil.

PRAYER

Precious Holy Spirit we love You. Thank You for Your love and care upon us. May You walk in us and teach us all truth. You Holy Spirit who is in us, You are greater than the one who is in the world, we need Your help, guidance, comfort, shepherding and power working in us and for us. We dismantle every form and power of witchcraft, sorcery, soothsaying, omens, spells, diviners, cults and occults working against us and deceiving Your people. May You break every barrier, limitation, barrenness, hinderance, delay, bar of iron, gate of bronze and every chain in Jesus name. May You break loose every prison gate like You delivered Paul, Silas and other prisoners and set us free. May You hear all our prayers, petitions and supplications and make a way for us even where there seems to be no way. May You open for us double doors and give us the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that we may know that You are God, the God of Israel. May You our God of peace, sanctify us through and through body, soul and spirit and keep us blameless at Your coming dear Lord Jesus Christ. May You grant Your true salvation to us and all people dear merciful Savior. Lord may You do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask of or think of according to the power that is at work in us. Lord we trust in You and exalt You. We believe that You are able to do more than we can think of or imagine. We believe that we shall be extremely fruitful since we abide in You and You in us. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in Your house forever. May You bless us and keep us loving Father, may You shine Your face upon us and be gracious to us. May You lift up Your countenance towards us and give us peace. Amen

Blessed Weekend
