Exodus 4:10-12

Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

INSIGHT

-Mouth in Hebrew is written as peh & it means opening, entrance, hatch, spokesman, mouthpiece, sharp edge, verbalize, express, speak.

-Moses focused on his weaknesses when God wanted to use him to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. Probably his tongue was heavy, he stammered & he had not learnt the Egyptian language. God assured him that He would teach him what to say as He created all things & nothing is too hard for Him.

-God gave man authority over all the earth & the animals in Gen 1:26. With this authority; God uses man to perform certain tasks since we have a body which makes us legal on earth. Jesus had to be birthed by a woman with the help of the Holy Spirit to perform His assignment on earth. Therefore, having been given all authority in heaven & on earth, Jesus sent the apostles to make disciples of all nations in the baptism of the Holy Trinity (Mat 28:18-19). With this authority Jesus reminds us not to despair but believe in Him.

PRAYER

Thank You Father; for the gift of life & good health. Thank you for Your care & love that You have always granted us. Heal the sick in hospitals & at home. Help those who have physical, mental & psychological deformities, those who have low self esteem & believe system, to realize the authority that You have bestowed upon us. Hear our prayers & petitions & strengthen us in all our weaknesses. Amen

Psalm 49:3

My mouth shall speak wisdom, And the meditation of my heart shall give understanding.

INSIGHT

-It is important to differentiate understanding (comprehension) from knowledge (information) & wisdom (application of the two). The Psalmist applies what he has learned from the Father, meditates in his heart & finds grace.

-Apostle Luke writes that; “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45).

-The heart is a man’s subconscious mind; able to device good & evil. The content of his heart is revealed when he speaks; for as he thinks in his heart so is he. The character of a person is a true reflection of his heart; which is exposed to us by his words. God searches our hearts to know who diligently follows Him; for those who love Him keep His word in their hearts.

PRAYER

Lord our Father, purify our hearts from all that is not of Your Kingdom. Cleanse our tongues that our speech may always edify You. Hide Your wisdom in our hearts that we may never depart from Your presence. Amen

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

INSIGHT

-Words can make or break a friendship, family, marriage or a person. We should measure our words when addressing others to avoid causing enmity among ourselves. Marriages, families, friendship & a person’s abilities; thrive in an environment of peace & encouragement.

-Apostle Paul in Eph 4:31 states that “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice”, for by these we give room to the devil & thus defile ourselves.

– Corrupt words therefore cause enmity among us which is opposed to the nature of God; for God is love. May we share His love by uplifting one another’s spirit in His grace.

PRAYER

Our Father who at in heaven; hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread & forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from all evil. For Yours is the kingdom the power & the glory; forever. Amen

Matthew 21:16

and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?”

INSIGHT

-After the triumphant entry, children in the temple praised Christ saying “Hosanna to the Son of David” & the chief priests & scribes did not find delight in this. Jesus response was also mentioned by David in Psalm 8:2, “Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.”

-Babes indicates children/ sons of God. David often praised God & the Lord gave him victory, peace & blessed his descendants. When we rejoice in the Lord in song, jubilation & prayer all the time; we find victory in all things.

PRAYER

We praise & worship You Father; for Your goodness & faithfulness in our lives, families & nation. You are the King of kings, Lord of lords & all glory belongs to You. Thank You for Your everlasting mercy & grace upon us. Amen

Matthew 4:4

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

INSIGHT

-Jesus was tested by the devil after He fasted for 40 days & made mention of the word according to Deu 8:3; when God provided manna in the wilderness. He chose to obey the Father as His mission was clear to save mankind from the slavery of sin.

-Most of short sighted people, focus on bread alone which could lead to greed & shepherd them astray. On the other hand; those who not only focus on bread for sustenance but the Bread of life for spiritual food, have eternal life. May we be always guided by Christ our Lord; the way, the truth & the life.

SUMMARY

-When approached by God, Moses had an excuse that he was not eloquent, slow in speech & tongue. God assured him that He would teach him what to say. We are Gods vessels on earth & should not fear when called to do His will.

-The heart is a man’s subconscious mind; able to device good & evil. The content of a man’s heart is revealed when he speaks; which reflects his true character.

-Words can make or break a friendship, family, marriage or a person.  We should measure our words when addressing others to avoid causing enmity among ourselves. When we encourage & give others hope; we uplift their spirit in an express of the love of God.

-When we rejoice in the Lord in song, jubilation & prayer all the time; we find victory in all our affairs.

PRAYER

We humbly implore You Father; seeking Your mercy & guidance. You are the Holy One of God, we praise & honor You. May Your word manifest in our lives, families & nation. Instill in us the gift of discernment that we may only hear from You & always do Your holy will. Amen
