HEART OF MAN

Genesis 27:41-42 So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.” And the words of Esau her older son were told to Rebekah. So she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said to him, “Surely your brother Esau comforts himself concerning you by intending to kill you.

INSIGHT -In Hebrew, heart is written as leb & means mind, conscience, pubis, core, quintessence, gist -Isaac blessed Jacob instead of Esau his first born son. Esau said in his heart that he will kill Jacob. This news was told to Rebekah in a divine way maybe through a dream, vision or prayer as Esau planned this in his heart. -We are called to be prayerful so that God can communicate to us & give us warnings incase of danger.

PRAYER: Abba Father, we praise You & thank You for everything You have done to us. Reveal to us the mysteries of heaven & keep us safe from every harm. Have mercy on us & dwell with us to give us every good thing that we require. Amen

Jeremiah 17:9-10 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

INSIGHT -The Lord says the heart is deceitful above everything else & He looks at ones heart, tests the mind & give according to man’s ways & doings. -In Prov 27:19, man’s heart reveal the man. Psalm 51:10, create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. -We are called to think of pure things full of truth so that we can please God.

PRAYER: Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Search our hearts & remove everything that is not of Your Kingdom. Holy Spirit, guide our ways & deeds so that Your gifts & fruit may be a blessing to us. Amen

Proverbs 3:1-3 My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart,

INSIGHT -We are reminded to always remember the laws of the Lord & keep His commandments in the heart for the result is long life & peace. Mercy & truth should also be part of our lives inscribed in our hearts & bound round our necks to sustain our lives. -Prov 4:23-24, Guard your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you.

PRAYER: May Your laws & commands be incribed in our hearts; O Lord, to share in Your mercy & truth. You are The way, truth & life; lead us by these & may we love You will all our hearts & our neighbour as ourselves. Amen

Mark 11:22-24 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

INSIGHT -Jesus says that we should have faith in God & that faith should be haboured in our hearts. Whatever (all things) we say or pray for; will be accomplished if we don’t doubt in our hearts. -In John 14:14, If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

PRAYER: God our Father, give us firmer faith to completely believe in You. May we believe in our hearts that whatever we say & ask for in Your name, You will do. Give us pure hearts so that we may see You in our daily lives. Amen

Luke 8:15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

INSIGHT -Jesus explains the parable of the sower. The seed (Word of God) fell on good ground (heart) kept it & bear fruit with patience. -In Mat 5:8, Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. -Heart harbours many evil things/ It is deceitful above all things & desperately wicked/ God searches the heart of man (not the physical body) & rewards him according to his ways/ we should inscribe God’s commands in our hearts/ faith should originate from the heart/ our hearts should be good, noble & pure to bear fruits with patience.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit our Helper, we thank You & praise You for everything You have done to us through out our lives. Create in us a clean, noble & good heart to hear Your word & bear fruit in patience. May we see You in our lives now & forever. Amen
