Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
INSIGHT -Jesus calls us to forgive others when they offend us. -In forgiving others we share in the mercy of Christ. – Jesus calls us to forgive others & He will consequently forgive us.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, have mercy on me for I am a sinner & not worthy to be in Your Holy presence. Give me the grace to forgive others as You forgive my trespasses. May you be glorified always as I forgive those who wronged me most & my debtor’s. Cleanse me of all my sins & make me pure as I await to inherit Your Kingdom. Amen
Luke 17:3-4 ‘Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”
INSIGHT -Jesus says we should correct those who wrong us. -If someone wrongs you, forgive them as many times as possible emulating Christ.
PRAYER: Jesus Christ, have mercy on me & those who wrong me. Give me the heart to forgive & love for others just as You love me. Grant me Oh Lord, the heart of perserverance so that I may forgive unceasingly. Amen.
John 8:10-11 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
INSIGHT -This was a story about a woman caught in adultery by scribes & pharisees. -Jesus said to them “Let the one that is without sin cast the first stone” -No one condemned her as they all left the scene. -Jesus also forgave her sins & told her never to sin again.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, as You forgave the adulterous woman forgive my sins for I am a sinner. Give me the grace to forgive & not to condemn for we are all flesh. Help me to love you more & grant me the grace never to sin again. Amen.
Ephesians 4:31-32 ‘Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.’
INSIGHT -Paul condemns resentment, wrath, anger, hostility, evil speaking and malice. -Paul therefore advocates for kindness, tenderness, forgiveness as Christ forgave us.
PRAYER: God my Father, have mercy on me a sinner. Depart any bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speech and malice from my heart and instill kindness, tenderness, love & forgiveness in me. Help me to forgive others seventy times seven times for Your glory just as Your son Jesus Christ forgave us. Amen.
Romans 12:19-21 ‘Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
INSIGHT -Revenge belongs to The Lord, for He will repay for all injustices against you. -Forgive all your enemies & those who wrong you & providing for their needs. -Forgiveness & generosity makes the offender guilty like coals of fire on his/her head. -Overcome evil with good for The Lord will bless you & forgive your own trespasses.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, give me a pure & contrite heart to forgive & be generous to others especially those who offend me. Give me a loving heart for all those who wrong me as vengeance belongs to you Father. I bless you & praise Your Holy Name forever. Amen.
