Exodus 2:10 And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. So she called his name Moses, saying, “Because I drew him out of the water.”

INSIGHT -In Hebrew, water is written as mayim & it means irrigate, saturate, dilute, flow, stream. -Mat 3:16-17, Jesus came up immediately from the water, heavens were opened to Him & He saw the Spirit of the Lord descending like a dove & alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Eph 5:26, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word. -When we are baptised we get our identity & are recognized as sons of God. Christ sanctifys the church/us with the water of His word/Bible.

PRAYER: Sanctify us with washing of the water of Your word, Jesus, so that we may hear & do as You please. May we realise our identity as Your son’s. Strengthen us to do the will of the Father & whatever we ask for in Your name may be granted to us. Amen

Genesis 49:3-4 “Reuben, you are my firstborn, My might and the beginning of my strength, The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power. Unstable as water, you shall not excel, Because you went up to your father’s bed; Then you defiled it— He went up to my couch.

INSIGHT -Water being unstable bring out the character of Reuben, Jacobs first born son. This means that Reuben was unsettled, contemptible & weak to the extend of defiling his father’s bed. Disregarding his attributes of dignity & power, his last day were predestined to failure, unlike his brother Joseph, who was blessed abundantly. – Isaiah 40:29, He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

PRAYER: Increase our strength, Father, that in Your power we may be richly settled. May we be still & always rely on You so that we may experience your love in our lives, families & nation. Help & strengthen us in righteousness so that we may no longer be slaves to any form of cancerous sin. Amen

Ezekiel 36:25-27 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

INSIGHT -Water has been frequently used symbolising cleansing both physically & spiritually. – In this text, the word of the Lord came to prophet Ezekiel & spoke regarding the restoration of Israelites. The same pattern is seen in Exodus 19:10, when the Israelites were told to bathe & wash their clothes in preparation to meet God.

PRAYER: Sprinkle clean water on us, Father that we may be cleansed from all our filthiness. Give us a heart of flesh so that we may always seek You first. Help us Holy Spirit in all our needs. Amen

John 4:13-14 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

INSIGHT -John 6:47, Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. Gal 3:6, just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” -Faith in God keeps us going in this life into everlasting life with an account for righteousness.

PRAYER: May we never thirst as we partake of Your living water, Jesus. Impart Your righteousness in our hearts as we continuously seek Your face. Be with us always that our faith in You; will never fail. Amen

John 7:38-39 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

INSIGHT -When we are batised in water we receive our identity as sons of God/ instability of water signifies weak character/ water represents physical & spiritual cleansing/ Christ gave us the Holy Spirit who leads us to everlasting life through faith/ rivers of living water represent the Holy Spirit in our hearts.

PRAYER: Baptise us Holy Spirit, that we may receive Your gifts & fruit. We desire to have You always in our hearts to minister unto us. Help us in all our needs so that we may never thirst. Amen

Our Father who at in heaven, Hallowed be Your name….
