THE HOLY SPIRIT THE HOLY SPIRIT
Romans 8:11-12 “And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But... THE HOLY SPIRIT

Romans 8:11-12

“And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

INSIGHT

-The Holy Spirit is God. He forms part of the Holy Trinity, together with God the Father and God the Son. The Holy Spirit played a critical role in the ministry of Christ, having participated in His birth through virgin Mary. He also descended upon Jesus like a dove during His baptism and raised Him from the dead. We have the same hope in the Holy Spirit having Him indwelling in our hearts, that we too will be raised from the dead to eternal life at the last day. The Holy Spirit also works in the lives of believers to renew, sanctify, and make us holy. In 1 Corinthians 6:11, we see that, “But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God”. We have then been sanctified, meaning set apart as sacred, through the purification from our sin to become spiritually mature and made Christ-like by the help of the Holy Spirit. This is a daily process as we walk with God and are renewed in the mind day by day, leaving behind the old into a new creation. The Holy Spirit helps us in this process of sanctification, where we die to our old self and become all that God created us to be, free from the entanglement of sin and live victoriously through faith. The Holy Spirit is thus God with us and within us, who walks with us daily and has assured us of eternal life through faith in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER

Thank You God for this beautiful day that You have made, we rejoice and are glad in it. Thank You Holy Spirit for living with us and in us, we need You at every moment of our lives. Thank You for this far that You have brought us and the far that You are taking us. Take charge of our lives this whole week and guide us in the way that we should go. Be with all those who are sick and suffering, homeless and destitute, lost and without favor that You may become their ever present help in times of need. Grant all those who have not come to Your knowledge; grace upon grace so that they may enter through the Door who is Christ. Thank You for making us righteous through faith in Christ Jesus. Thank You for washing us, sanctifying us and justifying us through the washing by the blood of Jesus. Make us holy always Lord because You are Holy. Renew our minds and help us to be Christlike every day as we walk according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh. Holy Spirit You are good and Your righteousness endures forever. Thank You for Your saving grace upon our lives. Thank You for loving us and making us a new creation. Thank You for becoming the living hope in our hearts with the assurance that we have eternal life through faith in Christ Jesus. Thank You for giving us victory in all things and assuring us that death has no hold on us. Answer all our hearts desires according to merciful will. All glory, power and praise belongs to You Lord, now and forever. Amen

Psalms 51:11-12

“Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.”

INSIGHT

-As we recite this powerful prayer by David, we realize the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament. After David was involved in sexual sin and marshaled against Uriah the Hittite to inherit his wife, the Holy Spirit convicted him of his sin and he repented. David knew the value of the Holy Spirit in his life and requested God not to take away the Holy Spirit from him. It is the work of the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16:7-11). When we teach, read and hear the word of God, the Holy Spirit performs great work in us of convicting and bringing us to repentance and many to Christ. The Holy Spirit thus in-dwelt in the people of the Old Testament and infilled many after the resurrection of Christ. Jesus said, “It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” (John 16:7). The Holy Spirit was there before creation and He will be there to everlasting. He participated in the creation as we read from Genesis 1:2 that, “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” His dominant presence was also felt among His people including, Joshua (Num. 27:18), Othniel (Judges 3:10), Gideon (Judges 6:34), Samson (Judges 13:25; 14:6), Bezalel (Exodus 35:30-33) and many others, working through them for the glory of God. In the New Testament we thus see the Helper dwelling in us to help us all the time and grants us the joy of His salvation. In 1 Corinthians 3:16 we also see that we are God’s temple and the Spirit of God dwells in us. Since the Holy Spirit dwells in our temples, which are our bodies, we should therefore submit to His will always and come to Him with sincere repentance like David, and He will help us and guide us in all our ways.

PRAYER

Create in me a clean heart Lord and renew a steadfast spirit with me. Cast me not away Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me by Your generous spirit, and I will teach transgressors Your ways and sinners shall be converted to You. Have mercy in us Lord for we have sinned and fallen short of Your glory Oh Lord. Have mercy on us Jesus and cover us with Your precious blood. Purify our bodies and make us as white as snow so that our bodies may always offer a pleasing aroma to You; Holy Spirit. All we need is You in our lives, always dwells in us and with us. Help us to always do Your will and strengthen us in victory for we are more than conquers in You. Victory belongs to You Lord, help us to always win our battles and achieve our purposes for the glory of Your name. Deliver us from all evil and grant us Your grace. Fill us with Your love, wisdom and faith for our lives belong to You. Bless us, our families, churches, leaders, nation and all the nations of the world and grant us the gift of salvation. We submit everything to You Holy Spirit, lead us in our journey of faith. Amen

1 Corinthians 14:2-4

For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

INSIGHT

-The Holy Spirit appears in both the Old and New Testaments. The Holy Spirit especially dwells with and in Christians. Leading, guiding and empowering us with spiritual gifts including:- gift of knowledge, faith, healing, working miracles, prophecy, discerning spirits, speaking in different tongues and interpretation of tongues as He wills (1 Corinthians 12:4-11). Through these we see from the main scripture that gifts are geared towards self edification or edification of the church. Apostle Paul displays values for some gifts more than others; especially if they cause edification of the church; like the gift of prophecy. It is through this then that the Holy Spirit grants us the fruit of love. The fruit that Jesus summarized saying, love the Lord Your God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your strength and your neighbor as yourself. We are called to continue loving our brothers and sisters and showing hospitality to strangers, and by so doing we show hospitality to angels without knowing (Hebrew 13:1-3). Further, to be hospitable to one another without grumbling. To minister to one another as each one has received spiritual gifts and to be be good stewards of the manifold grace of God. To speak the oracles of God and minister according to our abilities; as God supplies for the glory of His name. Our lives should always be governed by love. Only love can hold us together through perfect unity with God and one another, for God is love and love never fails.

PRAYER

Praise the Lord, all nations. Extol Him, all people. For great is His steadfast love toward us and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. We praise You Holy Spirit for You alone are our God and King. You formed our inward parts and knit us together in our mother’s wombs. We praise You, for we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Help us to love You and our neighbors as ourselves. Only You are worthy Lord, only You are our King of kings, may Your love reach all Your creation merciful Lord. Fill us with Your fruit and gifts Holy Spirit so that we may accomplish that great work that You have called each one of us to do, for the glory of Your name. Grant us the wisdom and faith to perform the gifts that You have bestowed unto us, to exercise them with love. Help us not to show partiality among Your people but to love one another with Your perfect love. Grant us the compassion so that we may help the poor and those who need us most. Heal all those who are sick and suffering Master and comfort the bereaved. Wonderful are Your works Lord and great is Your faithfulness. All glory and dominion belongs to You Jesus Christ, now and forever and ever. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forevermore. Amen

Acts 2:4-13

“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

INSIGHT

-When the day of Pentecost came, after Jesus had ascended into heaven, people from diverse origins spoke in different tongues. Jesus united people from different tribes, tongues, people and nations by His precious blood. He cements these relationships through the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Before He was taken up to heaven, Jesus gave His disciples instructions to witness His in all Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:7-9). Although they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in different tongues, some interpreted this as drunkadness. It is likely that the behavioral characteristics of one speaking in tongues and drunk are similar, for they are controlled by a force from different sources. In Ephesians5:18-19, we are told that we should not be drunk with wine which is dissipation; but be filled with the Holy Spirit. It was also illegal for priests from the Levitical order to drink wine. In the New Testament, the parents of John the Baptist were also cautioned that he should neither drink wine nor strong drink, but be filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:15). We all know that Jesus will return in the hour that we do not expect like during the days of Noah. We are called to remain alert always for we do not know the time nor the hour when the Son for Man will come back. We are also called to preach the gospel to all the ends of the world.

PRAYER

Fill us with Your fruit and gift Holy Spirit and help us to witness You in all the nations of the world. Teach us what to say and grant us the courage to proclaim Your name openly without fear nor favour. May we decrease and may You increase always for the glory of Your name. Deliver all Your children from drunkenness but fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Help us to always be alert as You have called us for You are coming soon. Prepare us always to be ready to receive You. Thank You Jesus for Your free gift of eternal life, help us to hold fast faith and works, for the glory of Your name. Our Father who art in heaven; hallowed be Your name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory; forever and ever. Amen

1 Corinthians 2:9-10

“But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”

INSIGHT

-Sometimes we think about our lives and the things we have been praying for and conclude that we are not making any progress. Some of us have prayed the same prayer for a long time and do not seem to get results. Others are depressed and contemplating suicide owing to these facts and others like; rejection from family and friends, ridicule and disrespect, lack of love and support, COVID-19 has killed some family members and friends, and disrupted plans, self doubt, low self esteem and thinking that one does not deserve to live, family and marriage problems, delay in answered prayers, slow or no growth etc. Depression is real and many among us are hiding their frustration within themselves; which is slowly eroding their hope of salvation. Jesus calls us to cast all our burdens and cares unto Him for He cares for us. He said that He will never leave us nor forsake us and calls us to cling to Him. Despite the challenges that we may be going through, He still loves us and will never leave us nor forsake us. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew‬ ‭11:28-29). God has great plans for our lives, plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future. The Holy Spirit reminds us of these truths, the deep things that are in store for us. We are therefore called to hold on to Him no matter what we are going through. To have faith in God in all situations and never loose hope, for He is always with us and He will deliver us from all storms and tribulations.

PRAYER

Sing to the LORD a new song. Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, bless His holy name. Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations. His wonders among all peoples. For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised. He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before Him. Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. Give to the LORD, O families of the peoples, give to the LORD glory and strength. Give to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering, and come into His courts. Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. Tremble before Him, all the earth. Let the heavens rejoice and let the earth be glad. Let the sea roar, and all its fullness. Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the LORD. For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with His truth. Lord You are good and Your mercies endures forever. Only You are our Lord and God worthy of all honor and worship. Have mercy on our nation and all the nations of the world that have been hard hit by COVID-19, that You may wipe away our tears and give us peace. Cover us and entire world with Your precious blood Jesus and grant us the gift of salvation. You have promised us in Your word that You will never leave us nor forsake despite what we are going through, thank You for loving us Holy Spirit. Thank You for the good plans You have for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future. Despite the wave of COVID-19, You still have good plans for us. Calm down all our storms Jesus, we cast all our burdens unto You for You care for us. Heal our physical, psychological, relational, financial, economic and social wounds, we humbly ask You. Heal all those who have lost hope in life and are depressed, and touch them with Your hand of love. Lord You are Great and Your Sovereignty is not limited by anything or anyone in all the heavens and the earth. Thank You for always dwelling with us and in us Holy Spirit, we love You. You are the hope of our salvation, teach us to run to You despite our shortcomings. Expand our territories and reveal to our hearts the hidden treasures that You have in store for us. Make all our plans succeed according to the riches of Your glory, for the glory and honor of Your name. Amen

Romans 8:15-17

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”

INSIGHT

-We all know that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. The body is symbolic to the outer court, the soul synonymous to the holy place and the spirit to the holy of hollies. The Holy Spirit who dwells in our spirit, that is; the holy of hollies and bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. If we are children of God then we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. Jesus Christ brought us near to God through His death and resurrection, and made us His children. The Holy Spirit washed us, sanctified us and justified us in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. He renews our minds by the washing with His word daily. 1 Corinthians 15:42 says that, “Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever”. If we are joint heirs with Christ we will obtain new bodies and be glorified together with Him in the last day through the gift of eternal life. The Holy Spirit testifies/witnesses with our spirit that we are children of God, we can comfortably call Him Abba Father anytime, and especially during worship and prayers. We have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, which is not the Spirit of God but a free spirit or a spirit of liberty which yield grace and righteousness.

PRAYER

We give thanks to You Lord for You are good and Your love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, His love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords, His love endures forever. To him who alone does great wonders, His love endures forever. Who by his understanding made the heavens, His love endures forever. Who spread out the earth upon the waters, His love endures forever. Who made the great lights, His love endures forever. The moon and stars to govern the night, His love endures forever. Thank You Holy Spirit for this great opportunity that You have granted us to see yet another day in perfect peace. Guide us throughout this week and shepherd us in the way we should go. Make all our ways prosperous and make us succeed in all things for victory belongs to You Lord. Breathe in us, O Holy Spirit, that our thoughts may all be holy. Act in us O Holy Spirit, that our work may be holy. Draw our hearts O Holy Spirit, that we may love what is holy. Strengthen us, O Holy Spirit to defend all that is holy. Guard us, O Holy Spirit, that we may always be holy. Abba Father thank You for loving us with Your everlasting love. Thank You for making us Your children. May You hear and answer all our prayers and hearts desires according to Your holy will. Amen

1 John 3:23-24

“And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.”

INSIGHT

-If we love one another we abide in God and God in us. We should realize that we are God’s chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His special possession, that we may declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9). If God loves us this much, we ought to love one another and let His light shine through us to others. We love because the Holy Spirit has deposited love in our hearts for He loved us first. We must therefore demonstrate love by loving God and one another. But if we say that we love God but hate our neighbor whom we see, we become liars. Only the Holy Spirit can teach us how to love in truth. We know that love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy and it does not boast. We are reminded to love one another with a pure heart, for love covers a multitude of sin, and love never fails. If we love God we must also keep His commandments, and the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit will come in us and make His home in us. There are three that testify, the Spirit, the water and the blood, and if we believe in God, we have His testimony in our hearts. Every spirit that confesses that Jesus is God, is from God. If we believe that the One who is in us is greater that the one who is in the world, we bear the Spirit of truth. If we believe in the Son of God we have life, but if we don’t believe in the Son, we do not have eternal life. We are God’s children and we are called to have communion with Him and know Him for who He truly is and believe in Him. Let us then love God and one another for this is what God commands us to do.

PRAYER

We love You Lord our God for who You are, thank You for loving us first. We believe in You Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross for our sins. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness by Your precious blood Jesus and make us whole we humbly ask You. We welcome You Holy Spirit in our hearts, draw us to Yourself by Your love. Preserve us from anxiety, fear, evil thoughts and lead us in Your way of everlasting. Touch every soul that does not know You  Holy Spirit and lead them to the Door of salvation. May Your love Holy Spirit take over our hearts, homes, families, relationships, marriages, work places, institutions, nation and the whole world. May Your peace that surpasses all understanding dwell in our hearts and minds through You Christ Jesus. Preserve us Holy Spirit from all danger and snares of the evil one for we are Your children and we belong to You. Help us to always keep Your commandments and correct us each time we go astray. We love You Lord our God, thank You for loving us. Inflame us with Your love Holy Spirit and help us to follow You always in our journey of faith. May all our words and deeds be a true reflection of You Jesus, so that others may see us and believe in You, for the glory of Your name. All glory, honor, power and praise belongs to You Lord, now and forever. Amen

Luke 4:1

”Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.”

INSIGHT

-The life of Jesus was characterized by the presence of the Holy Spirit. As we saw last week, the Holy Spirit took part in the birth of Jesus, He came upon Him during His baptism, He led Him to the wilderness where He fasted and was tempted, He was present as Jesus performed His signs and miracles, He took part in His resurrection and was present after His resurrection and among the disciples. The Holy Spirit came to the Jews and Gentiles, and especially during Pentecost. If Jesus was, is and will always be God and needed the Holy Spirit in His life, how much more do we need Him. In Romans 8:14 we see that, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” Like the Holy Spirit led Jesus all His life, we need Him much more. If we are led by the Spirit we should live according to the spirit and not according to the flesh. God corrects or counsels the ones He loves, and if the Holy Spirit is part of us and is involved in our affairs, then we have a reason to thank Him. The Holy Spirit is our ever present help in times of need and we need Him every time. Like He was present in the life of Jesus, we too need Him always in our lives. The Holy Spirit is our Advocate (John 14:26), He the promised Helper with equal capabilities like Jesus (John 14:16), He teaches us and reminds us of the word of God (John 14:26), He helps us in weakness and intercedes for us when we do not know how to pray (Romans 8:26), He convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgement (John 16:8), He permanently indwells us (John 14:16-17), He guides us into all truth (John 16:13), He reminds us (John 14:26), He give us His fruit and bears fruit through us (Galatians 5:22-23), He gives us diverse gifts according to His will, He comforts us (John 16:7), He equips us with spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-7), He fills us (Ephesians 5:18), He empowers us (Acts 1:8) and many other benefits. We should always welcome the Holy Spirit in our lives and appreciate Him for showering us with countless blessings.

PRAYER

Holy Spirit our God, we come to You this morning thanking You for the gift of life and all that You have done unto us. Thank You for being faithful to us even when we have become faithless. We need You Holy Spirit at every moment of our lives, dwell deeply in us and with us we humbly implore You. We desire to worship You at every moment of our lives, in spirit and in truth, lead us for the glory of Your name. This morning we ask You to forgive us all our sins and remember them no more. Only You are our God, only You are our King of kings and Lord of lords, take charge of our lives. Make a way for us even where there seems to be no way and make every crooked paths straight. Comfort us when we are weak and anxious. Be our ever present Help in times of need our loving God. Deliver us from any form of snare, accusation and condemnation in our lives, families, nation and world, present here on earth and in the heavens. Cover us with Your precious blood and protect us from all evil. Intercede for us when we do not know how to pray Holy Spirit. Remind us of Your word daily, and give us teachable spirits to learn all things from You. Help us to never rely on our own wisdom but to decrease as You increase daily.  Fill us with Your fruit and gifts so that we may bear much fruit. Make all our plans succeed, according to Your will Holy Spirit we humbly ask You. Fill our hearts with Your love and remove all forms of darkness from our hearts and future. Thank You for placing a seal upon our lives and making us Your children, nothing can separate us from You love. Thank You for Your eternal blessing upon our lives. Amen

John 3:2-8

“This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

INSIGHT

-Nicodemus had misconceptions on faith in Christ and the gift of salvation. As we read from Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God”. Salvation is a gift from God which comes through faith in Jesus Christ. When we believe in Christ and are baptized, the Holy Spirit comes to us and indwells us. In Acts chapter 8, we find Philip who was sent by an angel to preach to an Ethiopian Eunuch who did not understand the scriptures he read. Philip spoke to Him about Jesus and when they came by water and he intended to be baptized, Philip said; “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And the Eunuch said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God” (Acts 8:37). And the Ethiopian Eunuch was baptized and saved. We are all called to baptism and faith in Christ, that is; to be born of water and the Spirit so that we may inherit the kingdom of God. Like the wind blows where it wishes and one cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes, so is the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, leads us in the direction He wills. If we have faith in God, we should submit our will to His and He will lead us in all things according to His divine purposes.

PRAYER

Thank You Lord for the gift of salvation upon our lives. We have been redeemed by Your blood Jesus and not with gold, silver and precious metals, all glory belongs to You. We declare Your redemption, salvation, mercy, grace and blessings upon our lives, families, nation. The gates of hell shall not prevail against Your church, for have been redeemed by Your blood Jesus. On Mount Zion there shall be deliverance and holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. Thank You Lord for the eternal possession that You have given us and all our descendants. You have anointing our heads with oil and baptized us with Your Holy Spirit, lead us in all our our decisions, future plans, families, marriages, relationships, businesses, work, churches, leadership, nation and the entire world humbly ask You. We submit our will to Yours Holy Spirit, may You increase as we decrease. Our nation belongs to Jesus. State house belongs to You Jesus. May You be glorified in this nation from state house to every house. You are the lion of Judah, may Your reign in all nations Jesus, that You gift of salvation may reach all people. You are preparing a table for us Your children and shall supply for all our needs, we thank You and praise Your holy name. Loving Father we ask You to be with all the youth. Be with all those who are not going to school at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Settle their hearts of all our children who are waiting on You for reopening of the schools and shape their future. Be with all the health worker who are responsible for taking care for those who are sick. We pray for special protection upon their lives. May Your healing virtue heal all those who are sick and suffering, and deliver us from the COVID-19 pandemic. Lead all our leaders with Your wisdom even as they make the required pronouncements. We intercede for the church leaders and members, the church shall be strong and stand firm in faith. Your light shall shine over all airwaves and Your salvation will touch all Your people. May all people and nations turn to You Jesus and indwell in all Your people Holy Spirit. We declare an overflow in our lives, children, relationships, marriages and nation, may our cups overflow with Your goodness Lord. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in Your house forever. Amen

Ephesians 1:13-14

“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”

INSIGHT

-The Holy Trinity agree as one and establishes us in all truth through the gospel of salvation. The Holy Spirit has placed a seal upon us that we are children of God and has given us the gift of salvation which yields eternal life. The seal is similar to the Passover; when the Israelites painted their door posts and frames with blood, and were secured from the angel of death. In Revelation 7:1-10, we see one hundred and forty four thousand children of Israel being sealed on the forehead, and a great multitude of all nations, tribes, peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” Thus then; the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God and call Him Abba Father. And there are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one (1 John 5:6-7).

SUMMARY

The Holy Spirit dwells with us as He dwelt with the Old Testament patriarchs. David recognized these facts when he said, “do not take the Holy Spirit from me, restore unto me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with Your generous spirit”. We have been cautioned against grieving the Holy Spirit who dwells in our spirits through sin. But to live by the spirit so that we do not gratifying the desires of the flesh. The Holy Spirit was present before creation and we see Him hovering over the face of the earth. When Jesus was about to be betrayed, He said to His disciples, “it is good that I go so that the Holy Spirit may come to you”. The Holy Spirit came unto them mightily during Pentecost like tongues of fire and they spoke in different tongues, not understood by men. Some people thought they had too much wine and ridiculed them. The Holy Spirit cautions us from being drunk with wine but to be filled by His presence. Once we are filled with His presence He grants us His fruit and gifts. His fruit of love that we are called to hold fast, love for God and our neighbor. The Holy Spirit was also vividly present in the life of Jesus from His birth, ministry, death and resurrection. If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit and He was and is God, then we need Him much more. He fills us with the gifts of faith, wisdom, prophecy, teaching, discerning spirits, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues and working miracles (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). The Holy Spirit is our Advocate (John 14:26). He the promised Helper (John 14:16). He is our teacher and reminds us of the word of God (John 14:26). He helps us in weakness and intercedes for us when we do not know how to pray (Romans 8:26). He convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgement (John 16:8). He permanently indwells us (John 14:16-17). He seals us with salvation (Ephesians 1:13). He guides us into all truth (John 16:13). He give us His fruit and bears fruit through us (Galatians 5:22-23). He comforts us (John 16:7). He empowers us (Acts 1:8). He also reveals to us the deep things of God which also give us hope of a better future (1 Corinthians 2:9-10). We therefore need the Holy Spirit at every moment of our lives. He also reminds us that nothings can separate us from His love and calls us to trust in Him with all our hearts despite our fears and shortcomings. Through these, we have hope of eternal life as He will also raise us up when we sleep; as He raised Jesus from the dead. He witnesses with us that we are children of God, and if children then heirs together with Him, and has placed a seal of salvation on us so that we may live forever with Him.
