THEME: GRACE OF GOD

Romans 3:23-26

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”

INSIGHT

-Grace is the unmerited favor of God, His undeserved loving kindness that He shows through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the sins of the world. When we were still sinners, Christ died on the cross for our sins. When we deserved punishment, God sent His Son to be punished for our sake. When we deserved death for our sins, Christ became sin so that we may have life and life everlasting. When we know that we don’t deserve anything good, Jesus Christ gave us His grace. We should not then continue to sin because the grace of God abounds in us for we are dead to sin and alive in Him. Jesus our great High Priest became a sin offering, died once for all and does not need to offer a sacrifice daily, first for himself like the Old Testament priests, then for the sins of the people (Hebrews 7:27). Jesus knew no sin and in Him there was no sin, but became sin so that we may become the righteousness of God. He has justified us by His grace and set us forth as a propitiation by His blood that we may become righteous through faith in Him. In the Songs of Solomon 4:7 we read that, “You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you”. The lover there is our Lord Jesus who makes us beautiful and sees no spot nor spectacle in us. This does not mean that there is no wrong in us, for all have sinned but He sees no wrong in us since He already died for our sins. From Hebrews 8:12 we read that,“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” It is through faith that we are justified, clinging to God’s grace, and hold Him to His promise of salvation. There is no condemnation then for those who are of faith in Christ Jesus for we have sure hope of eternal life with Him.
