Theme: FISH
Matthew 17:25-27
He said, “Yes.” And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?” Peter said to Him, “From strangers.” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.”
INSIGHT
-Sons of kings of the land were not obligated to pay tax. Jesus paid tax through fish demonstrating that sons of God are free. In His miracle, Jesus proved that Spiritual principles dominate artificial laws.
SUMMARY
-The first plague destroyed all the fish which was the main delicacy in Egypt/ Job explains the magnifice of God’s creation despite his calamity/ Jonah was swallowed by a fish after disobeying God was ferryed to Neneveh where they valued fish, thus he was highly respected & heard/ Simon, James & John went fishing all night but did not harvest any fish. Jesus instructed Simon to cast his net in the lake & he caught multitudes of fish. Later they were made apostles.
PRAYER
May our hearts be inclined to You with love, Father so that we may exhibit true discipleship. You are our helper & provider may we never lack any good thing. Lead us in Your wisdom & freedom through Your tender mercies. Amen
