THEME: SON OF MAN
John 5:24-27
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.”
INSIGHT
-The Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14). The Son of Man is thus the God of salvation and His grace is sufficient for us all. He is the Word of truth and gives light to men. Our foundation in Christ is to believe in Him; in our quest to obtain grace, live in light and have life everlasting. Our present spiritual and physical needs should be anchored upon Christ who shepherds us in all truth who has power to execute judgement. We then obtain eternal life through our faith in Jesus who is the Door and whoever finds the door finds life, through His grace for the glory of His name.
SUMMARY
-Through our weekly study, we have seen that the Son of Man is a phrase use to describe the Messiah. The Hebrew word for Messiah in Hebrew is masiah which means the anointed one or Savior. It can also be translated with the Greek word “christos” and which means “Christ”. We also note that in many scripture references, Jesus use of Son of Man in conjunction with His prophetic words about His own suffering. Jesus is thus fully God and fully Man and deeply related to our suffering for He was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities and by His wounds we are healed. He took away our infirmities and bore our diseases (Matthew 8:17). The Son of Man was made a little lower than the angels that He might suffer and die for sins of the whole world. On the cross He died for the redemption of the world and like a kinsman redeemer, delivered us from every evil and aligned us to His DNA that we may also be called children of God and co-heirs with Him. The Son of Man has power to forgive sin and we are all called to repentance, and live holy lives because He Himself is Holy and undefiled. Jesus’ execution became His exultation. The Son of Man is our Lord and Savior, and He is exulted high above every creature and is seated at the right hand of the Father in glory and deserves all our worship and praises.
