Exodus 13:12-13

that you shall set apart to the Lord all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be the Lord’s. But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.

INSIGHT

-In Hebrew, head is written as gaal & it means avenge, buy back, claim, kinsman, relative, rescue, save

-All firstborn of all creatures belonged to God. Donkey’s  were among the unclean beasts & numerous in number. Their firstborn’s were redeemed with a lamb otherwise killed by breaking of the neck to avoid shedding of unclean blood. Firstborn’s of man were redeemed with 5 shekels in excess of the Levites, that is (273*5=1,365) shekels which was given to Aaron & his sons (Num 3:47-50).

PRAYER

Thank you Jesus, for redeeming us from sin through Your blood. Purify us from all unrighteousness. Lead us in all things as we start a new week. Amen
