And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head.
-Oil of spikenard was traditionally used for anointing people of high honor. It was pure, genuine, unadulterated, very expensive & highly valued.
-In John 12:3, We learn that the woman was Mary; sister to Lazarus & Martha. Jesus said that she had kept the oil to anoint His body for burial. This showed high respect, humility, love & honor.
-God will make you the head & not the tail/ The head/thoughts should be dedicated to the Lord/ the head of man is Christ, the head of woman is man, the head of Christ is God/ Christ is the head & we form the body (the church)/ Mary, Lazarus’ sister anointed Jesus with oil of spikenard in preparation for His burial.
We come to You in humiliy & respect, Father; thanking You for all the graces You have bestored unto us. You are our source of life, wisdom, knowledge & understanding. May all our thoughts be inclined to You in love as You lead our paths. Amen
Our Father who at in heaven, hallowed be thy name..
