“Reuben, you are my firstborn, My might and the beginning of my strength, The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power. Unstable as water, you shall not excel, Because you went up to your father’s bed; Then you defiled it— He went up to my couch.
-Water being unstable bring out the character of Reuben, Jacobs first born son. This means that Reuben was unsettled, contemptible & weak to the extend of defiling his father’s bed. Disregarding his attributes of dignity & power, his last day were predestined to failure, unlike his brother Joseph, who was blessed abundantly.
– Isaiah 40:29, He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Increase our strength, Father, that in Your power we may be richly settled. May we be still & always rely on You so that we may experience your love in our lives, families & nation. Help & strengthen us in righteousness so that we may no longer be slaves to any form of cancerous sin. Amen
