Matthew 4:3-4
Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
INSIGHT
-After Jesus had fasted for 40 days & nights, He was hungry & the devil tempted Him. Jesus’ response was man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Bread fulfils our bodily needs for survival but the Word of God is for spiritual nourishment & a shield to the devils temptations/attacks.
-God requires us to be planted by the river of righteousness/ our bodies can yield either good or bad offsprings/ fleshly lusts war against the soul & spirit/ our bodies age but the inward man is renewed everyday/ temptations are resisted by living in God’s word.
PRAYER
Jesus our Lord, plant us in Your word so that we may resist the devils temptations. You are our protector & strength; do not pass us by. Renew our spirit each day & lead us to the way of righteousness. Amen
