THEME: FAITH IN GOD
Mark 10:52
“And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.”
INSIGHT
–The story of blind Bartimaeus is a tale of sure faith in God. When he had heard the news about Jesus of Nazareth and that He had come to Jericho, Bartimaeus could not hold his peace. He kept calling “Jesus Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10:47). He allowed nothing to stand in his way from accessing Jesus, even when he was dissuaded by the multitudes, he called the more. Jesus responded and Bartimaeus was called to meet Him. His immediate reaction was to throw away his garment which identified him as a blind man. He believed that his situation was about to change forever and had no doubt. Jesus responded to his request and he was able to see. He then followed Jesus. Jesus calls us to have faith in Him and not to doubt, for if we doubt we become like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind (James 1:6). We are called to follow Jesus unrelentingly and we will have all our requests.
