THEME: ANALOGY OF THE WELL

Exodus 2:15-21 NIV

“When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, where he sat down by a well. Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father’s flock. Some shepherds came along and drove them away, but Moses got up and came to their rescue and watered their flock. When the girls returned to Reuel their father, he asked them, “Why have you returned so early today?” They answered, “An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock.” “And where is he?” Reuel asked his daughters. “Why did you leave him? Invite him to have something to eat.” Moses agreed to stay with the man, who gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage.”

INSIGHT

-Moses a Levite had defended his fellow countryman and killed an Egyptian who confronted him. After he discovered that his actions were known, he fled to Midian and as he was sitting at the well he met Reuel’s seven daughters. Reuel gave him Zipporah in marriage. This is same narrative as to how Isaac got his wife Rebekah. Abraham had sent his eldest servant Eliezer to go and find a wife for Isaac. It is by the well where she was found, and she gave him water to drink and watered all his ten camels (Genesis 24). It is by the well of water that a wife is found, in the presence of the Lord.

PRAYER

Jesus we lift Your name high and glorify You. At Your name Jesus, every knee should now and every tongue confess that Jesus You are Lord to the glory of God the Father. Jesus You are our Great High Priest, You are our King of kings and Lord of lords, and none can compare to You. You are Great and Powerful, and all power and authority belongs to You. May You make a way where there seems to be no way. A good wife comes from You Lord Almighty Father, may You make a way for marriage to all men and women who are waiting on You. May You break all the barriers and obstacles and make it possible for all those who are waiting on You for marriage. None will lack a mate Jesus Christ but You will perfect all that concerns You. May You make it perfect at Your own time according to Your riches in glory. Amen
