THEME: ANALOGY OF FOXES

Ezekiel 13:4-8 NKJV

“O Israel, your prophets are like foxes in the deserts. You have not gone up into the gaps to build a wall for the house of Israel to stand in battle on the day of the Lord. They have envisioned futility and false divination, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord!’ But the Lord has not sent them; yet they hope that the word may be confirmed. Have you not seen a futile vision, and have you not spoken false divination? You say, ‘The Lord says,’ but I have not spoken.” Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you,” says the Lord God.”

INSIGHT

-Prophet Ezekiel compares the prophets to foxes denoting their mischief and lack of concern towards the state of the nation of Israel. As the foxes find their home in desolated cities (Lamentations 5:18); but many extend the simile to the undermining of the ground by the foxes, as these prophets accelerated the ruin of their people. They did not address pertinent issues as God directed but propagated falsehood and deceit. Their hearts were not geared towards serving the people but themselves. This was also evident during the time of prophet Micaiah who told the truth regarding the conquest between the kings of Israel and Judah, and the king of Syria. When the four hundred (400) prophets declared victory in taking over Ramoth-gilead to king Ahab, Micaiah saw a vision of Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep without a shepherd (1 Kings 22:17). When a nation lacks prophets who speak the truth from God but follow after their own interests, the nation is vulnerable to attack, defeat and failure. Let us remember to pray for our nation, that God’s truth and righteousness may dwell with His people and His purpose may come to pass.

PRAYER

We give glory to You Lord our Most High God for making us see this new month. We thank You for You have journeyed with us throughout the entire year. We praise You for You have done great things in our lives, families and nation. In You we have assurance and confidence even for the months and years to come. We rejoice in Your goodness in the land of the living in Jesus name. We celebrate the victories and chastening throughout the year. We rejoice in You Abba Father for You are always faithful even when we become faithless. We pray for all Your prophets in Kenya and all other nations that they may only speak the truth that comes from You. May they do Your will without compromise. May they prophecy only that which comes from You. We pray for Your wise counsel to reign in our nation and our leadership. May Your will be done in our nation as it is in heaven. May all our leaders follow after Your own heart dear Jesus and not after their own hearts which might be deceitful and desperately wicked. May they humble themselves before You Lord and You will hear our cry and heal our land. May You forgive us dear Jesus for all evil that we have done and heal our land. May You wash us with Your precious blood and liberate us from every evil schemes of the enemy. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now, and forever more. Amen
