THEME: POWER OF PRAYER

Acts 16:25-26 NKJV

“But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.”

INSIGHT

-Prayer in Greek is written as euche, which means to make a vow or petition to God. Prayer can be described as an act of worship that glorifies God and reinforces our need for Him. Through living a life of prayer, we communicate with the very source of and purpose for our existence. Paul and Silas were confronted by a slave girl possessed by the spirit of divination for many days saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” (Acts 16:17). Apostle Paul rebuked the spirit and it immediately set the girl free, to the detriment of her masters from whom they earned a living. Apostle Paul and Silas were later tortured and imprisoned. They did not consider their predicament as anything before God but sort to pray and worship the Lord. Matthew 19:26 says that, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” As Paul and Silas prayed and worshipped, the foundations of the prison shook, the prison doors were opened and all their chains broke loose. Prayer shakes every foundation that is not of God and breaks all oppressive shackles and barriers. Prayer is a powerful weapon that each one of us should utilize, so that we may obtain victory in the Lord; in all circumstances, for the glory and honor of His name.
