THEME: DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Psalms 37:18-20 NIV

“The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever. In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. But the wicked will perish: Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field, they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.”

INSIGHT

-Noah was a righteous man and blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. The earth was corrupt in God’s sight and full of violence. When there was looming disaster, the Lord cautioned Noah and instructed him to build an ark made of cypress wood to protect him, and his household from destruction by the flood (Genesis 6:9-14). The days of Noah are such as these, where the world is full of evil and corruption. Matthew 24:37-39 tells us that, “the days of Noah are likened to the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man”. We are therefore called to watch for no one knows when the Day of the Lord will be. Let us also believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him as our personal Savior, and we will find eternal life in Him. The Lord preserves the righteous even during times of disaster and their inheritance endures forever.
