THEME: HOLINESS

1 Peter 1:13-17 NKJV

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;”

INSIGHT

God is Holy and His nature is holiness. In Leviticus 11:44 says that, “I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy.” God declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead (Romans 1:4).

SUMMARY

The Hebrew word for holy is “qadosh,” and the Greek equivalent is “hagios.” The holiness of God is a fundamental attribute of His nature. It signifies His absolute purity, moral perfection, and separation from sin through His righteousness and not our self righteousness. In Isaiah 6:3, the seraphim proclaim, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts; all the earth is full of His glory.” This threefold repetition emphasizes the supreme holiness of God, a theme echoed in Revelation 4:8, where the living creatures around the throne declare, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come!” In 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8, God did not call us to uncleanness but in holiness. In Romans 12:1-2 God requires that we present our bodies as living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God which is our reasonable service. Hebrews 12:14-16 says that we should pursue peace with all people and holiness without which no one will see God. Psalms 99:9 God is Holy and deserves to be exalted and worshipped at His holy hill.

PRAYER

We worship You Lord God Almighty for You are Holy and holy to be praised. Lord You are Holy and have been called to be holy, may You help us to be holy like unto thine. May Your help us and guide us in Your way of truth and righteousness for You are our Helper and Guider precious Holy Spirit. May You provide for all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. May You bless us and keep us Lord, may You shine Your face towards us and be gracious to us, may You shine Your countenance to us and grant us peace. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us now and forever more. Amen
