THEME: POWER OF SALVATION

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 NKJV

For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”

INSIGHT

Jesus’ death and resurrection allows us the freedom to live in hope of eternal life through His salvation power. The place of edification in the Lord gives renewed strength and peace with the vision of newness of life.

SUMMARY

The power of salvation is embedded in our faith in Christ Jesus. It is the central theme in our Christian faith, and it speaks to God’s ability to rescue, transform, and restore human life through faith. We have been saved from sin and its consequences through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and have been brought into a new life of righteousness and eternal relationship with God. Primarily, the power of salvation is a gift from God and not by our works lest anyone should boast but by faith through grace (Ephesians 2:8). Secondly, the power of salvation has been imputed upon us that when we confess our sins, Jesus is faithful to forgive us (1 John 1:9). Thirdly, the power of salvation delivers us from enslavement by sin (Romans 6:14). Fourth, the power of salvation grants us newness of life in Christ having been made into a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Fifth, the power of salvation is founded on rebirth in the spirit and water (John 3:3-6). Sixth, the power of salvation assures us of power over fear and death and allows us the gift of eternal life (John 3:16). Seventh, the power of salvation allows us the grace to trample on snakes and scorpions, and over the power of the enemy that nothing can by any means harm us (Luke 10:19-20). Eighth, the power of salvation empowers to see and experience the deliverance of the Lord for He fights our battles (Exodus 14:13-14). Ninth, the power of salvation enables us to humble ourselves through fear and trembling before God who enables us do His good pleasure and will (Philippians 2:12-13). Finally, the power salvation gives us hope of salvation and hope for salvation in the second coming of Jesus Christ.
