THEME: GRACE OF GOD
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NKJV
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
INSIGHT
–Apostle Paul had a thorn in the flesh described as ‘ a messenger of Satan’ to torment him. He pleaded with God three times to remove this suffering but instead of removing it, God told him that His Grace was sufficient and that His strength on Paul was made perfect in Paul’s weakness. This response gave Paul boldness to boast in his infirmities and times of struggle because he had the backing of the Lord God. He had the divine grace of God to sustain him through it all and God’s strength was to be made manifest. Sometimes we go through what Paul had a thorn in our flesh, it could be some sort of struggle, trouble, persecution, delay, shame, lack, sickness and infirmities and much more, and we ask God to take it away but instead He says that His Grace is sufficient for us and His strength is made perfect in us at such a time. Instead of God taking that trouble away from us, sometimes He takes us through it. This is never our expectation as a Christian, but the truth is God can decide to take the pain and struggle away almost immediately, He can decide to take us through a period of waiting before He does it or He can decide to allow us to endure it fully without taking the struggle or thorn in the flesh away from us. This means that in all such circumstances, it is a divine moment not to just focus on the thorn pricking us but on the divine help from the Lord. Knowing that He is a good God, that nothing can separate the love of God from us, He still loves us and has good plans for us even in these unfavorable tough situations and He does not allow what can defeat us to come upon us but only that which is meant for His glory and strength to be seen through us, we become His walking testimonies.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, we come before this day with thanksgiving for Who You are, and for Your uncommon grace that You have released to us through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for You are our ever-present help in times of trouble and distress. Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we will fear no evil for You are with us. Your rod and Your staff they comfort us. Thank You Abba Father for Your precious Holy Spirit that guides us, teaches us and is with us always. Today we repent for every time we have not exalted You in all situations and tried to take things in our own hands and strength yet we cannot prevail by doing so. In total humility and surrender, we ask that You release Your grace to us and manifest Your great strength and power to us in the various situations that we go through, all for Your glory and honor. We pray all these in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Blessed Tuesday
