THEME: HEART AFTER GOD

Hebrews 12:14-15 NKJV

“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;”

INSIGHT

–The intentions of the heart should carry peace avoiding every evil intent of malice, jealousy and sin, given to the grace of God, and power of the Holy Spirit. God calls us to owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law (Romans‬ ‭13‬:‭8‬).

SUMMARY

The heart has diverse funtions both in the physical, emotional and spiritual realms. The heart is a vital organ in the human body that acts like the engine for it is responsible for pumping blood around the body, both oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood, regulates blood flow, maintains blood pressure, circulates nutrients etc. Spiritually, the heart governs our awereness to God, is responsible for conceiving either good or evil (Jeremiah 17:9, Genesis 4:7), and centre of our connection with God. It is prime to guard our hearts with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). This can imply guarding our hearts which has the capacity of impacting the entire person. Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away (Genesis 5:24). God chose David as king over Israel, a man after His own heart who will do God’s will (Acts 13:21-22). God has the capacity of turning the heart in whatever direction He wishes which is in His hands (Proverbs 21:1). God tells us in Matthew 5:8 that, “bleseed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” The Lord purifies our hearts by faith and grants us the blessing of the Holy Spirit (Acts 15:8-9). Jesus purifies our hearts with His precious blood from all corrupt passions, unprofitable reasoning, vain thoughts and every evil. God demostrated His love for us by dying on the cross for our sins, and has called us to love Him with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength, and our neighbours as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39).

PRAYER

We enter Your gates Lord today with thanksgiving in our hearts and Your courts with praise. We thank You dear Lord Jesus for loving us and dying on the cross for our sins. Lord You are Holy and have called us to be holy, may You purify our hearts with Your precious blood and sanctify us whole body, soul and spirit. May You guide us in Your ways and statutes and lead us in Your ways of righteousness and fill us with Your spirit of the fear of the Lord. May You dear Lord Jesus supply all our needs according to Your riches in Christ Jesus and bless us. May You make us extreemely fruitful in every sphere of our lives and break every form of delay and evil. We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper and every tongue that raises against us in judgement, we shall condemn in Jesus name. May You precious Holy Spirit anoint us afresh with Your fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control. May Your peace that surpasses all human understanding guard our hearts and minds in You Christ Jesus. May You dear Lord bless us and keep us, may You make Your face to shine towards us and to be gracious to us, may You lift up Your countenance upon us and grant us peace. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forever more. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives, and we shall dwell in Your house Lord forever and ever, Amen
