THEME: SHOES OF THE GOSPEL

Luke 10:3-5 NKJV

“Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road. But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.”

INSIGHT

–The great commission submitted to disciples of Christ is similar to the twelve and seventy. Jesus prohibits the disciples from carrying extra baggage and undeniably extra shoes while preaching the gospel of peace. The Holy Spirit provides sufficient grace to the preacher for he/she is instructed what to say while submitting to His will.

SUMMARY

The word gospel means good news. The good news is the word of God that has come to set the captives free from sin and give them access to Him. The central focus of the gospel is that people are sinful and need a Savior. When their eyes are open to this good news they become part of God’s family, and accept the truth about themselves. They confess their sins and ask Jesus for forgiveness. They have peace with God and He transforms them into children of light. John preached and prepared the way for Jesus Christ saying, there comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose (Mark 1:6-7). John acknowledged the power and presence of Jesus Christ in redeeming and transforming lives. The prodigal son had a priviledge of enjoying true forgiveness and unconditional love from the father after living a wasteful life. He was clothed in a robe, ring and sandals and a sign of restoration of dignity, honor and sonship (Luke 15:20-23). It is a true blessing and the feet of those who bring good news, proclaim peace, bring glad tidings of good things, proclaims salvation, and declare that the Lord reigns (Isaiah 52:7). We are called to declare the gospel of Christ for the harvest truly is great but the laborers are few (Luke 10:2). We are reminded to put on the whole armor of God, standing while having girded our waist with truth, putting on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:14-15). The shoes for the readiness of the gospel of peace are the first offensive weapon in the armor of God. Sharing the gospel with others and bringing peace in a time of chaos and war takes back territory from the enemy.

PRAYER

We bless You our Lord and God, for You have given us counsel. Our hearts instruct us in the night seasons. We have set You Lord always before us, because You are at our right hand we shall not be moved. Our hearts are glad and our glory rejoices. Our flesh also will rest in hope for You will not leave our souls in Sheol nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You will show us the path of life, in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Lord may You guide us and grant us grace and wisdom to preach the gospel of peace with authority. May You grant us according to the riches of Your glory, that we may be strengthened with might through Your Spirit in the inner man, that Christ You may dwell in our hearts through faith as we are rooted and grounded in love. May You grant us exceeding fruitfulness and bless us exponentially. We believe and trust that nothing is impossible with You Lord. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forevermore. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever. Amen
