THEME: BEGIN STRONG

Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

INSIGHT

-The Lord instructed Joshua to be strong and very courageous. This exposes Joshua’s weakness and fear. Although the Lord had initially released a similar message through Moses to instruct Joshua that he would take possession of his neighbors territories (Deuteronomy 31:3-8). There was need for such a command, because even a great leader like Joshua needed such encouragement. Sometimes we are bogged down by life issues and feel weak due to challenges that emerge and concern us. To begin strong does not mean that we are self sufficient but we should place our hope and trust in the Lord, and be encouraged in Him. Joel 3:10 tells us that, the weak should say, ‘I am strong.” Like the Lord encouraged Joshua that He would be with him wherever he went. The Lord is reminding us His word that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). The Lord is the source of all strength and is remind us to be bold and courageous for He is always in us and with us.
