THEME: HEARING FROM GOD
“I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected. Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.”
-God speaks to us through visions. In the first chapter of Habakkuk, we see him complain that the Lord has not answered him. Like many other prophets we see Habakkuk waiting on the Lord in prayer and separates himself to receive revelation. It is vital to note that when we wait on the Lord in prayer, He answers us from deep within our hearts and not externally as man speaks to man. Most of the time, the Holy Spirit speaks to us in a still small voice that comes from within us when we read His word, praise and pray. Habakkuk received a vision and recorded it as instructed to preserve it for posterity, so that the future generations would know of the certainty of its fulfillment, similar to Daniel 12:4. The prophecy had lasting relevance and thus had to be preserved and at the appointed time it came to pass. God would punish the Chaldean’s for their pride and idol worship, and they would come to judgment according to prophecy. It is thus important to document our dreams and visions; holding fast faith that they will come to pass according to God’s will.
We love You O LORD, our strength. LORD You are our Rock, Fortress and Deliverer there is none other but You. You are our God and our Strength, in Whom we put our trust. You are our Shield, Stronghold and the horn of our Salvation. We call upon You LORD, who is worthy of our praises and You will save us from our enemies. The pangs of death surround us and the floods of ungodliness make us afraid, but we rely on Your strength always. The sorrows of Sheol surround us and the snares of death confront us, but all our trust is in You Lord. In our distress we call upon Your name LORD with firm confidence that You will hear us from Your heavenly courts.
