THEME: ANALOGY OF THE WELL

Proverbs 5:15 NKJV

“Drink water from your own cistern, And running water from your own well.”

INSIGHT

-Solomon divulges the thought of drinking water from one’s own cistern and running water from his well to mean honesty in matrimony. This he proposes as the proper remedy against filthy practices in the marriage union. In Proverbs 23:26-28, he points out that the way of a harlot is a deep pit, and a seductress is a narrow well. She lies in wait for a victim, and increases the unfaithful among men, and therefore proposes one to give their hearts to God and eye observe His ways. The adulterous person causes disgrace, diseases, poverty, and distress in marriages, but the love of God in our hearts for our spouses is the proper antidote against such pleasures. God reminds us that marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral (Hebrew 13:4).

PRAYER

Dear Almighty Father we come before Your throne of mercy and grace today. We bless Your Name and worship You for who You are to us. We lift Your name on high for there is none like You in all the world and universe. Lord You are great and mighty and there is none like You. Oh Lord, may You cleanse us and sanctify us from all sin and impurity by Your precious blood Lord Jesus. We surrender ourselves, our marriages and families unto You. We pray that all marriages with stand the test of time and the family will remain united as one. May You remove the spirit of infidelity and adultery in all marriages. May You sanctify and redeem all marriages by Your precious blood Lord Jesus. May You teach husbands how to love their wives just as Christ loves the church and gave Himself up for her. May You also teach wives to submit and respect their own husbands and be virtuous  as according to Your Word. You are truly faithful and in You we live, move and have our being. We thank You for hearing us oh Lord. We pray this believing and trusting in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
