Psalms 20:1-6 NKJV

“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion; May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, And fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.”

INSIGHT

-This Psalm of David delivers hope to the troubled and reassures the believer of God’s sure help. David speaks of the God of Jacob who delivers in times of distress (Genesis 35:3). When God delivers help, this is a source of strength and responds according to our hearts desires, and His great purpose for our lives. God remembers the sacrifices that we offer as from old, and receive our prayers as incense (Revelation 5:8). David declares with a statement of faith saying “now I know” to reassure that God surely answers prayers without fail. This is the confidence that we have before God, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us (1 John 5:14).

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus we thank You for this far that You have brought us and the far that You are taking us. We count our blessings and name them one by one. We honor You Lord and exult Your name dear Jesus. We say thank You for the gift of life and for the air that we breathe. We come to You dear Savior with humility in our hearts and thanksgiving in our lips. We thank You dear Jesus for You have reassured us that You hear our prayers and answer us. May You supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory. May You remember all our sacrifices and release Your dew of heaven upon us, and rebuke the devourer on our behalf, dear Heavenly Father. May You protect us from trouble and strengthen us in our walk of faith. May You answer our prayers and hearts desires dear Jesus. We honor You Lord and rejoice in Your salvation, now and forever. Amen

Genesis 21:17-19 NIV

“God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.” Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.”

INSIGHT

-When Hagar and her son Ismael were ejected from Abraham’s house, they wondered in the desert and ran out of water. The Lord heard the anguish of the lad, whose suffering from thirst were greater than those of the mother. An angel was sent, to address Hagar in the simple words of encouragement and direction, to lift the boy and take him by hand. The former promise in Genesis 16:10 is renewed to her and Ismael. God also opened her eyes and she saw a well of water, from which the bottle is replenished, and they are recruited for their further journey. God therefore responds to her cry and that of her boy, and provides that which they require for the journey and prosperity. God is our provider and our ever present help in times of trouble, and when we call to Him, He answers.

PRAYER

God You are our refuge and strength, our ever-present help in trouble. Thank Your providence, protection, and preservation. Thank You for Your kindness, goodness, mercy, love, peace, joy and for every spirituality blessing. We count our blessings and name them one by one. Thank You for keeping Your promises upon us, for You are a promise keeping God. You are faithful and holy God. May You deliver us from every trouble and tribulation. Save us Oh Lord and all those who are suffering among us. Have mercy on us and vindicate us. May You heal all the broken hearted. May You deliver all the street families who lack the basic requirements and are lost in the streets. May You deliver all those who live in darkness and save them merciful Savior. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forever more. Amen

Genesis 24:12-15 NIV

“Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham. See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.” Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor.”

INSIGHT

-Abraham built a relationship with his senior servant, possibly Eliezer of Damascus (Genesis 15:2). Probably because he was faithful and loyal, and had faith in God. When he got to the well at Nahor, he prayed to God. The Lord answered his prayers and that of his master Abraham and son Isaac, through his brothers Daughter, Rebekah. God is faithful to keep His promises. We find that through Abrahams seed Isaac, God’s promise of fruitfulness and multiplication came to pass. God is able to bless all those who are waiting on Him for spouses, at His appointed time. Our Lord is a promise keeping God, and He promises are yes and amen, and calls us to live by faith.

PRAYER

Lord You have instructed that the just shall live by faith. We shall live by faith in You dear Lord Jesus always, help us. You have said in Your word that none shall lack a mate for Your mouth has ordered and Your Spirit will gather them together. May You make a way Lord for all those who are waiting on You. May You level the mountains for all those are in the process of getting married. May You provide all their needs and desires. May You show Yourself strong even in the matter and deliver all from shame, we humbly call on You dear Lord Jesus. May You forgive us all our trespasses and sins and wash us with Your precious blood. We worship You dear Lord Jesus and give Your all the praise, and it is in Jesus Mighty name we pray trusting and believing. Amen

1 Samuel 1:12-20 NIV

“As she kept on praying to the Lord, Eli observed her mouth. Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk and said to her, “How long are you going to stay drunk? Put away your wine.” “Not so, my Lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord. Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.” Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.” She said, “May your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast. Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the Lord and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah made love to his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her. So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him.”

INSIGHT

-Hannah was found in the place of prayer. She prayed and cried to the Lord for a child as her womb was closed. As she prayed, Eli thought she was drunk as she cried to the Lord in anguish. This is probably because of her long wait and her co-wife’s mockery. The Lord remembered her and answered her prayers. She conceived, a son Samuel, and dedicated him to the Lord. Psalm 127:3 reminds us that, children are gifts from God and the fruit of the womb a reward. May the Lord remember all those who are waiting on Him for children.

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus You a Faithful God. You are filled with glory and majesty. You are an awesome God and all power belongs to You. You are God and none can be likened to You. You make the barren woman abide in the house as a joyful mother of children, praise be to Your name dear Lord. May You remember all those who are waiting on You for children that, You may release the gift of children upon them, and answer their prayers and hearts desires. May You do that which no man can do. May You open up all those wombs and enable them to bear children in Your name Jesus. May You break every chain and accusation in the court of heaven, and remember mercy dear Jesus. Thank You for what You have done and continue to do. You are indeed Faithful to keep Your promise. Nothing is too hard for You Lord Jesus. We pray this believing that Jesus You have answered. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forever more. Amen

Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭1‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’ ” And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?””
‭‭
INSIGHT
-A vulnerable woman had no family to uphold her cause and sought for her justice. The widow did not tire to request for justice from the unjust judge and she eventually got her desired help. Jesus taught that we should pray consistently without loosing heart, and He will deliver our requests. How much more will we receive our favorable judgment if we persist in the presence of our Righteous Judge.

SUMMARY

Prayer in Hebrew is written as Tefillah and comes from the word l’hitpalel, which stands for the process of accounting, contemplation, or offering supplication or begging. Prayer is a communicating with God. It is a channel through which we access the spiritual realm. Prayer enables us to realize what God designed for us eternally. It is comforting to know that we do not pray in vain. That God always hears every prayer and He responds with His favorable cause. God knows our requests even before we pray and He answers (Isaiah‬ ‭65‬:‭24‬). God invites us to pray and He is ready and willing to respond. God invites us to pray saying, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah‬ ‭33‬:‭3). Jesus calls us to find peace for our souls through prayer saying, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬). This is call for us to pray and sort the face of the Lord. Hagar prayed and Ismail was delivered from starvation and looming death (Genesis‬ ‭21‬:‭17‬-‭19‬). Many among us are trusting God for financial breakthrough to find bread for themselves and their children/families. God hears and answers prayers, let us not loose hope. Abraham prayed for his sons success in marriage and sent his trusted servant. His servant prayed at the well in Nahor and the Lord brought forth Rebekah (Genesis‬ ‭24‬:‭12‬-‭15). It is possible that Isaac and Rebekah were also praying when the Lord responded. Those who are waiting on God for spouses should be encouraged in the Lord. Hannah cried and prayed for a long time as her co-wife Peninah mocked her since she was barren. When she went to the place of prayer, Eli the priest prayed for the Lord to grant her request and she conceived (1 Samuel‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭20). God is calling all those who are believing in Him for children to pray and have faith for the Lord has not forgotten them and He will surely answer. The woman with the issue of blood underwent trouble looking for a credible physician to cure her and spent all her money but she was disillusioned. Probably she prayed for a long time before she heard that Jesus had come to their region and she received her miracle (Mark 5:25-34). Many among us are battling chronic illnesses and have spent a lot of resources seeking for the best treatment. Others are discouraged and depressed due to many life issues and need to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment. God is calling us today to pray and believe in Him for He hears every request and prayer. Jesus often went to an isolated place and prayed (Luke 5:16). Jesus recognized that the Father always heard Him, and He prayed for Lazarus who rose from the dead (John 11:42). Nothing is impossible with God. God is calling us to ask and we will receive. Seek and we will find. Knock and the door will be opened for us (Matthew 7:7). Let us always remember to press on in prayer and we will receive all our requests. Let us pray without ceasing for the Lord loves us and cares for us.

PRAYER
We approach Your throne of grace with confidence dear Lord Jesus so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. We come to Your presence dear Lord Jesus with confidence knowing that You are our God who answers prayers. We will extol You Lord at all the time, Your praises are always on our lips. We sought for You Lord knowing that You always hear us, answer us and deliver us from all tribulations. May You fan the fire of prayer within us, in our families and nation so that we may pray without ceasing. May You teach us precious Holy Spirit to pray to You in trust, and to worship You in spirit and in truth always. May You intercede for us with groaning that cannot be uttered. All glory and honor belongs to You Lord now and forever. May You bless us and keep us dear Lord. May You make Your face shine upon us and be gracious to us. May You lift up Your countenance towards us and grant us peace. Amen
