Psalms 107:8-9

“Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”

INSIGHT

-As we come to the close of the year, we are called to give thanks to God for His unfailing love. The Psalmist describes some of the benefits that our God bestows upon us including His sure provision. Jehovah-Jireh means God our Provider. He gives us and has surely given us what we need for our lives and wellbeing and this is reason enough to give Him thanks and praise. Whatever we need may not arrive when one desires or needs it, but whatever we are in need of, God always gives in His perfect time. We are called to praise the Lord for His providential goodness. In Matthew 10:31, God reminds us that we are more valuable than many sparrows. In Philippians 4:19-20, apostle Paul prays for God divine provision saying, “my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.” May our Good God supply all Your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER

Lord You are our Strength and Shield; our hearts trust You. Our hearts leap for joy, and with song we will praise You forever. You are our Provider Jehovah Jireh we thank You and exult Your holy name. You have surely provided and we have never lacked any good thing. Thank You for Your love and care for us. Even when we are faced with difficult economic times You have always provided for us and sustained us. We have not been smitten by the sun during the day and the moon during the night, but You have held our hands with sure love. We love You Lord, thank You for loving us first. Thank for loving all mankind, may You provide for all those who lack. May You restore all the street children and families dear Jesus grant them all their needs. May You revive our economy Almighty Father and make a way even where there seems to be no way. May Your name be praised and exalted in all situations Abba Father. All glory, honor and praise belongs to You Jesus now and forever. Amen

Psalms 106:1 NIV

“Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

INSIGHT

-One of the most common scriptures John 3:16 reminds us of God’s love for us. His unconditional love for us is evidenced by God sending His only begotten Son to die for our sins. Jesus became sin and died for us, so that we may become the righteousness of God. What greater love than this for a Man to lay down His life for His friend (John 15:13). The love of God was founded on sacrifice and it was sealed by His blood. God is love and calls us to love Him and our neighbors as ourselves (1 John 4:8-11). We are called to receive and embrace God’s unconditional love that illuminates our joy and peace in Him for He is Good. God’s deep and abiding love should lead us to praise Him without failing or fainting.

PRAYER

We praise You dear Lord Jesus and give thanks to You, for You are Good and Your love endures forever. We give thanks to You Lord and call upon Your name forever. We make known to those around us the things You have done unto us dear Lord Jesus. Let our hearts rejoice as we seek You. We will seek Your strength and seek Your face forevermore. We are more than conquerors in You dear Lord Jesus who loved us and loves us unconditionally. We know and are persuaded that neither death nor life, angels nor principalities, powers nor rulers, things present nor things to come, height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall separate us from Your love Lord Jesus. Receive all the glory and praise, and it is in Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen

Matthew 28:8-10 NKJV

“So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

INSIGHT

-There was great joy during the resurrection of Jesus Christ, although the women present were fearful since the tomb stone had been rolled away, and upon the presence of an angel. The news was too good to be credited at once, yet they had sufficient faith in it to fill them with great and unexpected joy upon the miracle of Jesus rising from the dead. We have since obtained the grace of God which has been given to us through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:4). Jesus Christ is the Light of the world, shining out the darkness of the grave; and thus gives us hope for His second coming.

PRAYER

How Great are You Lord in all the earth. You are so Holy, You are Gracious and Loving, our hearts are filled with joy. Dear loving Savior You are the Light of the world; may You continually illuminate our hearts in You. You are the living bread; may You help us know You more and draw us near to You always. We trust in You dear Lord Jesus, our hope is in You. We know and believe that we have victory in all things through Your resurrection. May You vindicate us and deliver us from all our troubles. May You resurrect every dead situation in our lives dear Jesus. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us now and forevermore.

Blessed Wednesday

Colossians 1:12 NKJV

“giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.”

INSIGHT

-Interest can be developed upon Paul’s thoughtfulness of inheritance while writing to the Colossian churches. God’s inheritance of the saints in the light of a Christ’s salvation. Further, an inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ’ (Col 1:5) and an inheritance for labour as a reward (Col 3:23-24). Most essentially is to acknowledge that we who are sanctified in the blood of Jesus Christ, have a sure inheritance in believing in Him and we receive an eternal reward through His grace. The grace that has appeared to all men and teaching us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, but live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ (Titus 2:11-14).

PRAYER

Almighty Heavenly Father, we bow before Your holy presence this day with humble adoration. We say thank You for this far that You have brought us. We say thank You for the far that You are taking us. We declare that Jesus You reign sovereign in our lives. You are Yahweh, our only God, our Alpha and Omega, our Beginning and our End, our First and our Last. You reign supreme in our lives and circumstances. We are Your workmanship, created in You Christ Jesus for good works. May You enable us and empower us to achieve the purpose for which You have called us. We are Your chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation and Your special possession, that we may declare Your praises for You called us out of darkness into Your wonderful light. We say thank You for Your divine election upon us and our generations. We pray for all those who are sick and suffering that You may heal and deliver them all. We pray that Your grace and favor shall be upon us in all matters spiritual, financial, economic, biological, emotional, physical and psychological. We pray for our nation of Kenya that You streamline our economy, our leadership our entire nation we humbly implore You dear Lord Jesus. We bless You and exult Your name, and it is in Jesus name we pray. Amen

Luke 17:11-16 NKJV

Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.”

INSIGHT

The parable of the Good Samaritan should inspires the attitude of thanksgiving in us. The ten lepers experienced the healing power of Jesus Christ but only one came back to give thanks to God. Giving thanks to the Lord must be a foundation of our lives every day. We experience God’s grace, healing power, deliverance, direction, joy and peace daily. God calls us to give thanks through praise and sacrifice even when the multitude does not find the need to do so.

SUMMARY

Thanks in Hebrew is written as yadah whose origin is from the word yad which depicts the hands. Yadah means to revere or worship with extended hands. Also to praise, give thanks, acknowledge or declare the merits of someone. There are so many reasons why we should give thanks to God. We thank our Lord for His wonderful deeds for us and satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things (Psalm 107:8-9). God is our Provider, and we need praise Him forever. We also give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for us (Psalms 107:15). God loves us with His unfailing love and requires that we love Him and one another as ourselves. The resurrection of Jesus gives us joy and thus need to offer our thanksgiving and praise to God. We have victory in Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57) and thus a viable reason to exult our God. We also give thanks to the Lord for He has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light (Colossians 1:12).

PRAYER

Bless the Lord Oh my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all His benefits. Who forgives all your iniquities. Who heals all your diseases. Who redeems your life from destruction. Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies. Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that our youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Thank You dear Lord Jesus for everything that You have been and done unto our lives and families, work and businesses, churches and ministries, communities and nations. May You continually bless us abundantly so that in all things at all times having all that we need, we may abound in every good work. May You bless us and keep us dear Jesus. May You shine Your face towards us and be gracious unto us. May You show Your countenance unto us and give us peace. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forevermore. Amen.
