THEME: PRIDE PRECEDES DOWNFALL

1 John 2:16-17 NKJV

“For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

INSIGHT

–The scripture denotes that those who focus on the fleeting things of the world including the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life will not abide forever. It is paramount to notice the value of focusing on God and His word that offers guidance on the way we should perceive things, communicating to one another, treat each other, and conduct our daily business. The will of God dictates that we love Him and love one another as we love ourselves.  

PRAYER

We enter Your gates Lord with thanksgiving in our hearts, and into Your courts with praise. We give You thanks and praise Your name forever. Your word Lord is a lamp to my feet and a light to our path. We pray for wisdom and the grace to always say no to sin, the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life. May You forgive us and sanctify us in the body, soul and spirit. May You empower our minds to focus on things above, not on things on the earth. Teach us to focus on Your eternal glory and do exploits for we trust in You. Our Father who art in heaven; hallowed be Your name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory; forever and ever. Amen
