THEME: PEACE OF CHRIST
John 20:19-22 NKJV
“Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
INSIGHT
–Jesus appeared to the disciples after His resurrection and His first words were “peace be with you.” This statement is a profound prayer and expression of hope, not just a simple greeting. It was a way of saying that despite the terrifying events, Jesus, our Prince of peace is still present, victorious, and in charge. It also signifies Jesus’ gift of inner peace that comes from the right relationship with Him, which is a spiritual state distinct from worldly peace.
SUMMARY
The Peace of Christ is an inner gift that He Himself gives and not as the world gives (John 14:27). The peace of Christ is given to us through our reconciliation with God (Romans 5:1). The peace of Christ is internally rooted in His victory over sin, death, and fear. It is a spiritual inheritance to every believer and the Holy Spirit gives us freely. The peace of Christ rules in our hearts and over our hearts (Colossians 3:15). The peace of God which surpasses understanding guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Jesus Christ is our Prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6). Christ calls us to emulate Him by making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3).
PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus our Prince of peace we worship You. Thank You for the peace that You have released unto us and continually give us. Thank You for You are Holy and loving unto us. You are perfect in all Your ways. You are the same, yesterday, today and forever. May You answer us when we call. May You respond to all our supplications, thanksgiving and petitions. May You guide us in the way we should go and deliver us from all evil. In every sphere of our lives may You answer, be it physical, spiritual, relational, psychological, economic and financial. May Your name be known and exalted in our homes, families, churches and nations, as You release Your salvation grace. Thank You for everything that You have done unto us and continue to do for us. Dear Lord Jesus, may You do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask of or think of according to the power that is at work in us. Dear Lord, we trust in You and exalt You. We believe that You are able to do more than we can think of or imagine. We believe that we shall be extremely fruitful since we abide in You and You in us. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in Your house forever. May You bless us and keep us loving Father, may You shine Your face upon us and be gracious to us. May You lift up Your countenance towards us and give us peace. Amen
Blessed Weekend
