STAR

Genesis 37:9-10 Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.” So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?”

INSIGHT -In Hebrew, star is written as kokab & it means gazer, shine, prince -Joseph had a dream in which the sun(his father), moon(his mother) & the stars(his 11 brothers) would bow down to him. This was symbolic of his rulership in Egypt.

PRAYER: Lord our Father, thank You for this new day & the gift of life. Thank You for Your divine creation which is a blessing to us. Reveal to us each day the direction in which we should go. Give us good leaders who will be obedient to You & lead by Your wisdom. Amen

Deuteronomy 4:19 And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the Lord your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage.

INSIGHT -Moses was warning the people against idolatry. A caution against worshipping & serving the sun, moon, stars & other hosts of heaven which are an inheritance to us all.

PRAYER: O Lord God, You have revealed to us Your greatness through creation & in our lives. Forgive us for any form of idolatry we have ever committed & deliver all people in the world from worshipping the sun, moon, stars & other hosts of heaven. You are the only one true God. We praise You & magnify Your Holy Name forever. Amen

2 Peter 1:19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;

INSIGHT -Apostle Peter says that with the prophetic word that Christ is the son of God, we should heed as a light that shines in dark places until Jesus rises into our heart’s.
-Rev 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, You the son of the living God, the Bright Morning Star. Come into our heart’s & lead us in light that shines in dark places. Cover us with your blood & protect us from all evil. Let us share in Your love in all that we do until You come again. Amen

Daniel 12:3 Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.

INSIGHT -Daniel saw a vision of escatology. He says those who turn many to righteousness & the wise will shine forever & ever. -In Isaiah 61:10, I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, forgive us our sins & cloth us with Your salvation & righteousness. Guide us in the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom. Holy Spirit, fill our heart’s with Your fruit & gifts now & forever. May our actions & words lead many to Christ. Amen

Matthew 2:9-10 When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

INSIGHT -Wisemen from the east saw the star of a King & went to Jerusalem to enquire where He was. The star went before them & led them to Bethlehem of Judah where the Mesiah was born as prophesied by the prophets. -Star represented people (eg Joseph’s brothers)/ people idolised stars/ Jesus is refered to as the Morning Star/ garments of salvation & robe of righteousness shine Like stars.

PRAYER: We give you all the glory Lord Jesus; for the many things You have done & continue to do in our lives. Forgive us our trespasses & lead our heart’s to You like the Father led the wisemen to You. Give us wisdom to do Your will & understand the signs You show us. Amen
