SPIRIT OF MAN

Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all the inner depths of his heart.

INSIGHT -In Hebrew the spirit of man is written as ruach & it means breath, wind, spirit -The Holy Spirit dwells in the spirit of man & reveals to God the Father what is in his heart. -In 1 Thes 5:23, Man is a tripartite being with a spirit, soul & body. Same as God the Father, Son & Holy Spirit & Jesus is The way, truth & life. -In John 4:24, God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. In Gen 1:27, God created man in His own image. The image of God is not physical but spiritual. Man’s spirit is uplifted when we praise, pray, read the Word, meditate on the Word etc.

PRAYER: Holy trinity one God, guide me to always worship You in spirit & in truth. Create in me a clean heart always so that it may always be pure. May Your lamp share witness in my life as I follow Your good works with a willing heart. Amen

Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.

INSIGHT -God’s gives the spirit of man understanding/way/truth/life through His breath. -In Gen 2:7, And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. -In Luke 23:46, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’” Having said this, He breathed His last. Jesus in the body of man, committed His spirit to God & died, & later came back as God in His glorified body. -The breath of God/ruach forms the spirit of man.

PRAYER: Father God, thank You for this beautiful day that you have made. Thank you for the free gift of breath & life. Give me the gift of understanding so that I may utilise my time properly as I journey in Your way, truth & life. Amen

Romans 8:15-17 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

INSIGHT -We received the Spirit of sonship from God & not of fear. The Holy Spirit bears witness that we are children God & joint heirs with Christ thus giving us courage to face challenges with boldness. When we suffer we have assurance of eternal victory in God.

PRAYER: Abba Father, thank You for reminding me that I am Your child & a joint heir with Christ Your son. Comfort me always in my need & let me enjoy victory in all forms of suffering. Thank you for the tender mercies & loving kindness that You show me everyday. Amen.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

INSIGHT -Jesus spoke about love & indwelling with the Father & son. If we keep His Word/ commandments, we love God. Therefore, Jesus will manifest Himself to us & the Holy Trinity will dwell within us. -1 Cor 6:19, You body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. The body is designed like the temple where the Spirit is a reflection of the Holy of holies upon which the Holy Trinity dwells.

PRAYER: Holy Trinity one God, You are my King of Kings & Lord of Lords. I believe that I live in Your grace & that You manifest Yourself to me everyday. Strengthen me in love to abide by Your commandments always. I welcome You to come into my temple & make a home within my spirit. Enrich my spirit with Your everlasting love to abide by You as You abide with me until eternity. Amen

Ephesians 4:23-24 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

INSIGHT -Apostle Paul writes that we should be renewed in the spirit of the mind (new man) to think of things that glorify God in true holiness & righteousness. -In Rom 12:2, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. -spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord which searches his heart/it originates from Gods breath/makes us children of God/requires us to keep God’s word & should be renewed to form a new man.

PRAYER: Jesus Christ forgive me all my iniquity & renew my spirit into a new man.Give me wisdom to vanish evil thoughts at inception so that I may be acceptable, holy & righteous in Your eyes. Amen
