John 12:34-36
“The people answered Him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?” Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.”
INSIGHT
-In Hebrew son of man is written as “ben adam,” which generally means mankind and to a larger extent used to define the Messiah. After the triumphant entry, Jesus spoke to His disciples and the people around Him about His death and resurrection. They asked Him, who is the Son of Man? Sometimes we also ask ourselves the same question and wonder how it relates to the “Son of God”. Often times than not, Jesus referred Himself as the “Son of Man” and seldom did He refer Himself as the “Christ”. Who then is the Son of Man and what does it mean. The Son of man can be viewed as a strong counterpart to that of Son of God and just as Son of God affirms the divinity of Jesus, in a number of cases Son of man affirms His humanity. Jesus is fully God and fully man and His title Son of Man refers to the Messiah. As the Messiah, His mission was to be lifted up and crucified on the cross for the redemption of mankind. He was highly exulted and is seated at the right hand of the Father in glory. Since we have faith in Him, we have been raised up together and are sited together in Him in the heavenly places through His great love and mercy (Ephesians 2:4-6). We are then called to remain in Him for only in Him can we have light, so that His light may dwell richly in us and reflect to many for we are the salt and light of the world, that many may see and come to Him.
PRAYER
Lord You are good and Your love endures forever. Father You are good and Your mercy is everlasting. Holy Spirit You are good and Your faithfulness endures to all generation. Thank You Messiah for loving us and dying on the cross for our redemption from sin. Forgive us all our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Sprinkle Your precious blood upon us, our families, nation and all the nations of the world that we may remain in You as you are in us. Thank You for Your mercy and grace upon us that You have given us the gift of salvation which is an assurance of eternal life as we dwelling in You Jesus Christ in heavenly places. May Your light shine in us and through us so that many who do not know You may come to salvation. Renew our minds Lord and transform our spirits that we may be lead by the light of Your grace. Empower our hearts Lord and strengthen us in hope that we may know You and love You as You desire. We shall not die but live to declare Your goodness Lord. May Your goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in Your house forever. Increase our faith Holy Spirit and enlighten our wisdom so that when we seek You and find You throughout this week. Give us a vision to see beyond our physical eyes and open the eyes of our hearts so that we may see You in things. Give us the strength and wisdom to overcome all adverse situations that we are going through and give us the grace to serve You, and all those who You have called us to. We pray this believing and trusting in You our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen
Daniel 7:13-14
“I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.”
INSIGHT
-Daniel saw an apocalyptic vision of four beasts coming out of the sea. The first like a lion with eagle’s wings, the second like a bear, the other a fourheaded leopard, and the last a terrible monster with ten heads. These are symbolic to the four kingdoms that would subjugate the Israelites, which include: – Babylon, Persia, Rome and Greek. These beasts would rule over the earth but finally; the rulership would be taken away from them and given to a fifth ruler, the Son of Man. In the vision, Kingship and sovereignty are central themes where one like a human being would be given eternal kingship to rule and reign forever by the Ancient of Days (God the Father) and He will be given power and dominion to rule the world. The Son of Man is thus our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and poses like a Kinsman redeemer who delivered us from the dominion of the fierce beasts; sin, curses, death and eternal condemnation through His precious blood. Daniel’s vision is paralleled in Revelation 11:15-17 where we see that, “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” We who are in Christ then have been given power over snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy, and nothing will harm us (Luke 10:19). We also read in Acts 26:18 where apostle Paul was given the mandate “to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me”.
PRAYER
We give You thanks to You Lord God Almighty, Who is and Who was and Who is to come. You are our King and our God. Only You command victories for Israel, only by Your power can we push back our enemies, only in Your name can we trample our foes. We do not trust in our own bow nor do we count on our swords to save us. You are the One who gives us victory over our enemies. You disgrace those who hate us. O God, we give glory to You all day long and constantly praise Your name. By the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony the evil one is defeated for all glory and dominion belongs to You. Deliver us all from the snares of the evil one and grant us success in our homes, businesses, jobs, relationships, families, marriages, leadership, nation and the entire world. Thank You for obtaining victory for us on the cross for we are more than conquers in You Jesus Christ. Forgive us all our sins Jesus and cover us with Your precious blood. We declare that no weapon fashioned against us shall prevail and no tongue raised against us in judgement shall prosper for all dominion and power belongs to You Jesus. Fight for us in all things including; diseases, oppression, delay, slavery, addictions, failure, miscarriages, barrenness, confusion, COVID-19 and all snares of the evil one, for You won victory on the cross for us. Fight for all our children, especially those who are lost and in the streets for the battle belongs to You Jesus. Satan has no place in their lives Lord for You have said in Your word, let all the children come to me. We are Your children Lord and we belong to You, have mercy on us. You are seated at the right hand of the Father in glory, all dominion belongs to You. We praise You and glorify Your holy name, now and forever. Amen
Psalms 8:1-6
“O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger. When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet,”

-This Psalm of David advances that the Son of Man is our strength and deliverer, and visits us when we call to Him. He is worthy of all worship and praise, and those who call to Him shall be saved. David acknowledges that the Messiah was made lower that the angels having been imputed the sin of all mankind and crowned with glory and honor forever. Therefore if the Son sets us free, we will be free indeed (John 8:36). This is freedom and power that we enjoy knowing our position in Christ, as co-heirs with Him Who yields all righteousness. Apostle Paul cried to God three times and the thorn in his flesh which came through satanic torment; was removed (2 Corinthians 12:7-8). God’s grace has been made sufficient for us, for His power is made perfect in weakness. We are then the righteousness of God and there is no condemnation for us who are in Him and nothing can separate us from His love.
PRAYER
We extol You, Lord our God, King of all glory and honor. We bless Your holy name and praise You forever and ever. Every day we will bless You Lord, for You are worthy of all our praise. We thank You for Your goodness and mercy Lord, thank for the rains. Bless the works of hands and heal our land, we humbly beseech You. Help us to bear much fruit as You have called us to. We will extol You and praise Your name forever and ever; for You were made a little lower than the angels and You have been crowned with glory and honor forever. How excellent is Your name in all the earth Lord our God. Great are You Lord our God, and You are greatly praised. Your greatness is unsearchable and awesome are Your works. One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. You have set Your glory above the heavens yes, Your honor above all living creatures. You shall set us free from every evil we who call on Your name for Your grace is sufficient for us and Your power is made perfect in weakness. You have made Your power available to us, for all dominion and strength belongs to You Jesus. You have delivered us from all sin causing death and there is no condemnation in us for we are in You, fight for us dear Jesus. You have ordained strength in us Holy Spirit for You are always with us and in us, and nothing can separate us from Your love. You have made us Your children Lord and there is nothing we shall want. Purify our thoughts, hearts and souls with Your precious blood, and help us to seek first Your kingdom and righteousness and all other things You will add unto us. Your promises in our lives are yes and amen, answer our hearts desires according to Your divine purposes. Give us the grace Lord to focus on You always and open the eyes of our hearts so that we may see You in all things. How glorious is the splendor of Your majesty Lord, how glorious are Your wondrous works in our lives, families, nation and on the whole world. Help us Holy Spirit to love You and our neighbours as You have called us to and grant us grace to draw closer to You, now and forever. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; and the love of God; and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forever more. Amen
Matthew 26:23-25
“He answered and said, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me. The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.” Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “Rabbi, is it I?” He said to him, “You have said it.”
INSIGHT
-Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve was tempted by the devil and he betrayed Jesus. The Bible records that the devil got into him and then he betrayed Jesus (Luke 22:3-4). Although we look at Judas and condemn him, this was part of his mission so that the Son of Man would be beaten and crucified for our sins. As we read the story of Judas, it is important to note that sometimes we too betray the Son of Man. One day in a dream, Jesus told me that you have betrayed me with a kiss, and I repented quickly with the thought of Judas in mind. When we commit willful sin, we betray the Son of Man with a kiss, and we are called to repentance. Hebrews 6:4-6 reveals to us that, “It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.” Jesus reminds us to flee from the devil and he will flee from us. God gives us the grace to overcome temptations and avoid all occasions of sin and in that way; we flee from the devil and he flees from us. God is our Protector and Guide, He covers us with His hedge of fire and precious blood, and prospers us in all our ways. The Son of Man in this text is revealed as our Savior and Redeemer, for He forgives us all our sins when we come to Him in repentance.
PRAYER
How excellent is Your name Lord in all the earth. You are worthy Oh Lord to receive all glory, honor and power, for You were slain and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tongue, tribe, people and nation. Deliver us Lord from all unrighteousness and cover us with Your precious blood. You are our Savior and Redeemer Jesus, have mercy on us and on the whole world. For the many times we have betrayed You with a kiss Jesus, have mercy on us, forgive us all our trespasses and remember them no more. Create in me a clean heart oh Lord and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Cast me not away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation and renew Your generous Spirit within me, and I will teach sinners Your ways, so that they may be converted to You. Our Father who at in heaven; hallowed be Your name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory; forever and ever. Amen
John 5:24-27
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.”
INSIGHT
-The Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14). The Son of Man is thus the God of salvation and His grace is sufficient for us all. He is the Word of truth and gives light to men. Our foundation in Christ is to believe in Him; in our quest to obtain grace, live in light and have life everlasting. Our present spiritual and physical needs should be anchored upon Christ who shepherds us in all truth who has power to execute judgement. We then obtain eternal life through our faith in Jesus who is the Door and whoever finds the door finds life, through His grace for the glory of His name.
SUMMARY
-Through our weekly study, we have seen that the Son of Man is a phrase use to describe the Messiah. The Hebrew word for Messiah in Hebrew is masiah which means the anointed one or Savior. It can also be translated with the Greek word “christos” and which means “Christ”. We also note that in many scripture references, Jesus use of Son of Man in conjunction with His prophetic words about His own suffering. Jesus is thus fully God and fully Man and deeply related to our suffering for He was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities and by His wounds we are healed. He took away our infirmities and bore our diseases (Matthew 8:17). The Son of Man was made a little lower than the angels that He might suffer and die for sins of the whole world. On the cross He died for the redemption of the world and like a kinsman redeemer, delivered us from every evil and aligned us to His DNA that we may also be called children of God and co-heirs with Him. The Son of Man has power to forgive sin and we are all called to repentance, and live holy lives because He Himself is Holy and undefiled. Jesus’ execution became His exultation. The Son of Man is our Lord and Savior, and He is exulted high above every creature and is seated at the right hand of the Father in glory and deserves all our worship and praises.
