SALT

Genesis 19:26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

INSIGHT -In Hebrew the salt is written as melach & it means sailor, marinate, flavor, cleverness, wit -Lot & his family were saved from the fire in Sodom & Gomorrah. They were instructed by God’s angel not to look back but his wife disobeyed & became a foundation/stone of salt. -Salt was havested from the dead sea in Jerusalem.
-The Lord journeys with us to safe & better areas but we keep looking back at our fast weaknesses & failures.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit lead us out of danger & give us the wisdom to obey your voice. You are our helper & councilor, journey with us to the mountain where the Father ordained for us. Let us look up to You for everything we need & never look back to our past failures. Amen

2 Chronicles 13:4-5 Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the mountains of Ephraim, and said, “Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel: Should you not know that the Lord God of Israel gave the dominion over Israel to David forever, to him and his sons, by a covenant of salt?

INSIGHT -Abijah king of Judah told Jeroboam & all Israel that God had made a covenant of salt with David & his sons to rule over Israel forever. David was the first king in the lineage of Christ. -In Levit 2:13, And every offering of your grain offering you shall season with salt; you shall not allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt. The offering of the first fruit in form of grain was ordered to be seasoned with salt. In Col 1:18, He is the head of the body, the church, the beginning, the first born from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

PRAYER Jesus our King, You became a living sacrifice for our sins as the first born & King in all glory. Season us with salt to be the light to the world through Your power & authority. Amen

2 Kings 2:20-22 And he said, “Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’” So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.

INSIGHT -Prophet Elisha, put salt & water in a new bowl by which the Lord healed Jericho’s water source. This halted deaths & land barrenness. -Salt has over 60 uses including cleansing, healing & prevention in different professions/areas.

PRAYER: Abba Father, You are our King & Lord. Heal all our water sources which cause land barrenness & death. Heal our wounds, families, economys, nations & other difficult area that cause us pain. Amen

Colossians 4:5-6 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

INSIGHT -Apostle Paul writes that we should walk in wisdom, talk with grace & our speech seasoned with salt so that we may answer one another wisely.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit our Helper, give us the gift of wisdom so that our walk & talk may be that of grace & seasoned with salt. Give us peace & reconcile us with our families, friends, neighbours, leaders & nations. Amen

Matthew 5:13-14 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

INSIGHT -Jesus addresses the disciples after the beatitudes. Christ echoes that believers are the salt of the earth(world) & should be seasoned unless they have lost flavor. Also, you are light of the world, that men can see your good works & glorify God in heaven. -Salt seasoning is common salt mixed with herbs, spices, flavouring & other products -Salt is useful to check our character; which is desirable when Christ is in us/ covenant of salt represents Kingship/ salt brings about healing/ we should walk & speak wisely/ believers are salt to the world where they share in the love & works of Jesus for His glory.

PRAYER: Our Father who at in Heaven, we glorify & praise You. You are the Almighty Father. Strengthen us in faith & love so that our character & works may bring glory to Your Name forever. Amen
