THEME: DIVINE DESTINY
Philippians 3:12-14
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”.
INSIGHT
-Paul, a devoted minister of God was committed to press on towards his goal attain that which Christ laid for him. He knew that God had a purpose for his life especially after his encounter with Jesus as he persecuted Christians (Acts 9:1-9). Like Paul, we lead our lives with eyes on the blessed hope and the release of our divine destinies. Our lives are filled with destiny seeds, waiting for the rain of the Spirit to fall on us to cause them to grow and be fulfilled. This rain must be falling on us daily for what we carry to be accomplish on earth by the grace of God.
SUMMARY
Destiny in Hebrew is written as meni and it means ones vocation, assignment, fate or mission. Our divine destiny is the reason for our existence. To attain our divine destinies we need to be converted like Paul and the prodigal son. Paul a persecutor of Christians encountered Jesus powerfully while on his way to Damascus and he trembled. Jesus revealed to Paul that he was not just Christians but Christ himself. The first step to achieve our divinely ordained destinies is therefore to accept Christ in our hearts and know Him personally, that we may belong to Him. This is the precious gift of salvation that Christ gives us free of charge. The free gift is like the transgression, for it is by the transgression of one that many died and much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many (Romans 5:15). The prodigal was lost and away from the kingdom of God. He suffered without God and ate with pigs but by God’s grace he was accepted by his father. If we have the gift of salvation we have the Spirit of God in us, who bears with us witness that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). If we are children, then we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, and if we suffer with Him we shall be glorifies together with Him (Romans 8:17). The sufferings of this present time cannot be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us (Romans 8:18, 2 Corinthians 4:8-18). There is always a wave of opposition by the devil to distrust us from our divine purposes. His mission is to steal our destinies, to kill our purpose and to destroy the path to our successful completion of our Godly ordained mandates (John 10:10). Even-though this happens to hinder us from attaining our goals, we have hope in Jesus Christ who come to give us life in abundance. Jesus lay His life down for us because of His unfailing love that we may walk according to His will and achieve all that He has called us to do. God has good thoughts for us, thoughts of peace and not of evil, plans to give us a hope and a future. Jesus calls us to rely on Him in every area of our lives that we may find peace, grace and victory to run our races to the end.
